I was hoping to finally get to play Taito's old 3-screen games soon, since I'm going to Tokyo for a month (from next thursday). What arcades still have them, preferably in Tokyo? *Ninja Warriors *Darius *Darius II (2 screen version) *Rastan Saga III (Warrior Blade) Thanks!
Several months ago, the Try Amusement tower (it's on a road directly in front of you as you leave Akihabara stations via the electric town exit and turn right, you pass the back of a number of shops who are on the main road in akihabara) had a 3 screen Dairus with working headphone sockets, although they also removed half of their retro games from one floor so there is only one floor left. Apart from that, there are a lack of retro arcades unless someone knows differently (Super Potato have an 'Arcade' on the 5th floor of their Tokyo branch, say 'Arcade' as it has a dozen or so machines.
Hehe, good luck tracking these down - there are very few worldwide now! I was looking for a Ninja Warriors for years... FINALLY found one in a collector's hands. He wouldn't sell.... but about 6 months later he asked if I was still interested, as he needed room for his Darius. Unfortunately, I had to decline There was a NW locally, 99% certain it got smashed up about 10 years ago.
Ah went to the Try Amusement tower and it has changed so much, the floors that had the cool games on, now have pachislot game. There isn't much there of any note now.
Ah the Darius (and there is Darius 2 machine too) seems to have moved to a place called Mikado which is just off Shinjuku. Basically this map http://accessible.jp.org/tokyo/en/map/shinjk_e.html Where Kubachiko is, is basically where the arcade is, that small road between Shinjuku and Seibushinjuku. I'll take some photos of how to get there if there is any interest, but you know you got the right place as they have an Outrun deluxe arcade machine there as well as 5 pinball machines (first time I've seen Pinball machines in Japan....).
That's great Jamtex, too bad I probably won't be back in Japan for a year or so. And yes, Try Amusement was a big disappointment, although I've heard it was great back in the day.
Pity you gone as the arcade I was talking about now has.... 2 Screen Darius 2 2 Screen Warrior Blade 3 Screen Ninja Warriors Also has lots of great old shooters with ROM hacks to make them more Japanese hard with Gradius, Salamander and Gradius 2. Also has mahjong games too. ^_^
