If anyone was wondering. The only other Tales game I ever played was Symphonia, and its certainly much better than that was. Music is top notch. Yuri is one of the best protagonists I've seen in a JRPG. The graphics are excellent. Gameplay is good. All in all a damn solid effort.
Slightly off topic, but there's a character named Yuri? Doesn't Yuri = Lesbian, or is it some obscure word that can mean different things over there? Anyways, I saw it at Gamestop today. Better than Symphonia? Sounds good to me.
Are you serious? Not crappy like the demo? All I got from the demo is that the game is the same as Symphonia with less appealing characters. Not that Symphonia had awesome characters, but I still thought it was a great game.
I, too, hated the demo. And really, in my mind I was going to wind up selling this one off fairly soon. But its actually really good, and I'm glad I got the collector's edition for keeps.
oh my... play TOP for god's sake! please someone that playied it make a comparison with this one, i'm short of $ after the wedding and i'll be for years
Is good, I'm playing it. But please, play the ps2 Tales of, Symphonia is near the worst tales in the last generation. Tales of the abyss for example is much better than Symphonia or Vesperia.
Yuri is a common name in Japan(mostly used for women). But Yuri is also the name of a flower in Japan, that's this word which is used when you talk about lesbian manga.
Probably about... 40 hours or so I would say. I kinda quit playing around 35 hours and I was nearing the end. Its not as long as Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Also, there's an achievement for beating the game in 15 hours... so...
Symphonia is the worst?? Must be because I played it first but I thought the other PS2 ones were really boring. I dunno though. I like barely any PS2 RPG's so i dunno.
Last one I played was... uh... Rebirth, and it was pretty lame. About 40 hours, and the last 10 seemed to egg on. Hmmm... 40, eh? I guess I'll pass. I can handle the short ones (25-30) but that's about it. Valkyria was great in that respect. The perfect length.
Tales of Vesperia goes really cliche' in the last 1/3rd of the game and kinda drags on. I actually lost interest in it. Infinite Undiscovery, I hear, is MUCH shorter, but I lost interest in that after a few hours. So here I sit, patiently waiting for Lost Odyssey 2 or another JRPG from Feel Plus. Whichever comes first.
I just finished Lost Odyssey a week or so ago and loved it. I spent about 75 hours on it doing some of the sidequests and achievements. The new boss in the DLC is insane in the brain. I tried fighting it once and that'll definitely be the last...
Ps2 has some tales, not only abyss, that are really bad, but abyss is a way better than symphonia (that is in ps2 too).
The only Tales games ive played were the one on SFC ( Phantasia I believe it was?) and one that i had for PS1 ( cant remember the name, it was years ago). They were both pretty good, i liked the combat system, the way they kinda mixed your typical RPG fight system with almost somewhat like a fighting game aspect to it. I should check out one of the newer ones sometime soon, probably.
