    Heh, I was just talking to a dev yesterday who said he'd written something near-identical for use on the MegaCD - his setup was a tiny chunk of MegaCD code that let you poke chunks of data into RAM from the parallel port :)

    Of course not, you need to boot code first then open an interface with the PC. This can only be achieved by booting from ROM or CD. If your goal is to dump games, then CD is the only option unless a device is built which can switch between an primary/secondary slot. To run ROM images on the console you must have local memory to store the game be it EPROM, SRAM, DRAM or FlashROM.
