Last week I purchased a VHS cassette called Target: Get Into The Game. Apparently, this was a promo guide prepped by Target stores to showcase the then-upcoming PlayStation and Nintendo 64 games that year. In an era when simple, colorful games reigned supreme, it's nice seeing how games were... just games, period. 1998 was the greatest year for gaming ever.

Anyways, I'm in the process of ripping footage of certain games from this video tape. The tape contains promos of Crash Bandicoot 3, Spyro The Dragon, Ocarina of Time, and Superman 64. Among others that will be uploaded in this playlist soon.

Probably the most interesting piece of footage in this VHS is the Ocarina of Time promo. Among many other elements, Link has different voice samples in this footage! I suspect in this point in time, his voice was done by one single voice actress.

A special mention should be made for Superman 64. It's a terrible game where "YOU. ARE. SUPERMAN." It's only fitting that it's promo should be just as bad; I guess even the marketing department had a hard time advertising this mess of a product.

Does anyone have any request of games they want to see uploaded and ripped online?

How long is the whole tape?

Me and my IRL retro gamer friends are having a cheesy 90s movie night, and this would be absolutely perfect!

Edit: Looks like there used to be an upload of the whole thing on Youtube, but the account was shut down. D'oh!

    Thanks!

Are you planning to upload the whole thing at all?

If more people want it, I'll give. I got tired of uploading those Famimaga magazines for a while because no one seemed to care for it. The point is I gotta know if people want it.

The problem there is you're uploading everything one section at a time. I can get wanting to build up interest from people, but if you have anything to share, may as well share all of it I say. A lot of this kind of stuff will only gather up a niche interest at best anyway, and in the end it's not the present interest that matters, it's the fact that anyone who's interested at any point in time can find it and appreciate it.

Speaking of which I have a VHS tape I can't play since I've got no VHS player, and would love to get it ripped. Can I send it your way? =p

I wanted to break' em so as people can appreciate them individually. Plus, I'm actually just doing these case-by-case as I'm working on them. Just having to finishing all of them completely before sharing it all would take me forever (especially in that Fami magazine's case, there are 200+ pages. I've scanned about 70 in advance before posting). Eventually it drags on and I might get bored and leave the project hanging. I'd rather leave something out there at least incomplete rather than not putting it on the table at all. I hope that makes sense.

Sure, if you complete that business that you still haven't finished for me. ;P
