I own Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru for the Saturn, but I have heard that it was also released in the Arcade. I am wordering if anyone here owns (or has seen) the arcade version of this game. I would really like to know which arcade board it used. KLOV says System 32, but I have also heard ST-V. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it.
I've heard about an arcade version, too - yet I believe it that version must have been cancelled. Couldn't find anything about it on the web apart from some basic mentions in some lists that don't include any info at all.
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=711 I don't see it there. And a general game search on system16.com turns up nothing either.
Have you ever seen it? I acually have a ST-V cabinet ( & about 8 games). But in all my years collecting games, I have never seen any copies of Taromaru on ST-V. Can you link to a photo or article (or anything) ? I'm not doubting you, I just want to actually see one.
No, it does not exist. There is speculation that it was developed with the idea of a simulatneous or soon after/before arcade release, but this never happened. Time Warner Interactive probably knew they were going under and deemed it easier to churn out the console version only.
It doesn't exist as an arcade game at all, it may look like it does due to the arcadey nature of the game but a quick search of japanese websites using lots of combinations of $B?4(B$BNn(B$B<v(B$B;&(B$B;U(B $BB@(B$BO:(B$B4](B$B!!(BSTV ST-V $B$?(B$B$m(B$B$^(B$B$k(B System 32 etc unsurprisingly gives nothing at all. If it did exist even as a prototype it would have been mentioned somewhere even as a screenshot somewhere... (as a side note STV and $B$?(B$B$m(B$B$^(B$B$k(B does pull up a number of japanese porn sites...) What's more likely is that lots of people have said 'it feels like an arcade game' or 'it could have been an arcade gmae' and someone has taken that to mean 'it is an arcade game' and it's snowballed like it does on the interweb... lots of sites do mention it being an arcade game and none of them point to any evidence that it does... Klov states it's a System 32 game, which would be interesting as it came out at least 3 years after the last System 32 game came out... Klov is a comedy of errors, so I wouldn't put much faith in it. System16 on the otherhand is much more researched and accurate and that doesn't list the game anywhere, no even as a alleged prototype...
I think this rumor also snowballed since Hiroshi Iuchi worked on it (backgrounds only) and his previous effort (Radiant Silvergun) had an ST-V release.
