Does anyone have one of these? www.tassimo.com I've been interested in one of the Bosch models. The allure of being able to brew proper lattes and espressos from a convenient T Disc (with real milk froth no less) is quite appealing. However, my office currently has one of those Keurig machines and I can honestly say its the worst coffee I've ever had the misfortune of drinking. Regardless of the variety, I find the Keurig coffees chalky and off tasting. How does the Tassimo stack up in terms of flavor and body? I know there's also something called the Senseo, but the coffee pods are harder to find in my area. Any input is welcome.
Yes, it's mediocre. I recommend this machine I use http://www.amazon.com/Lavazza-Machine-Espresso-Point/dp/B000CDHZ6M
I sold both for 3 years and the Tassimo is no better, the keurig flavors are better IMO. Keurig outsold all the others by at least 10 times. These are machines for people who drink shitty coffee from mickey D's and it's amazing compared to that. I'd get the keurig if only because the suppliers are independent whereas if Braun goes out of business, the whole Tassimo operation falls down with it.
Hi SuperGrafx, I had a Tassimo for awhile, the coffee is okay, machine itself is very simple, we have a starbucks blend here where I am and its really good....however i would recommend the larger full automatic coffee machines... you just can beat them and having to rely on pads is a pain...they are expensive...not for your daily drinker.
Just get the less expensive lavazza, it can be had for $400 used and is good enough it's used in small cafes.
Senso is crap - it's a very popular machine here but it doesn't make any good coffee. Ever tried a Bialetti Moka Express? I've came back to this after trying out several machines. O.k. - it's no espresso but very strong and very good tasting coffee. 1/3 moka, 1/3 hot milk and 1/3 milk froth - i never drank such a good coffee! It's cheap, easy to use and you need much less coffee powder compared to machines. Afterall you should try this before wasting a fortune on a overpriced machine.
Damn. You guys are "Ballers".. I use a $20 "Mr. Coffee". The cool thing about having never had GOOD coffee is that I can drink cheap crappy stuff and be totally satisfied. I do from time to time use my French Press but thats only when I buy a good bag of beans.
I went with a fully automatic machine that doesn't use pods, which is really nice to me. I have this: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/delonghi-magnifica-automatic-espresso-machine/?pkey=cespresso-makers|eltespful Those Keurig machines make some nasty tasting crap, I don't know what it is about them but they are just not good to me.
Well actually, Tassimo is now owned by Kraft Foods. Bosch makes the machines for the US market (not sure about Europe). Well maybe I'll check out a used Lavazza machine...$400 is doable but not $1200. I don't know, I just find the Keurig blends weird...the flavors we have at my office remind me of bitter burned coffee with a salty undertone. Just not good.
Interesting. I don't know where I got Braun from. D'oh Better not tell yall that I drink folger's because it's cheaper than dirt
As much as I love coffee I dont see myself investing more than $100 for a machine, although the taste difference would probably be incredible. Anyway, one question I got to all you "Veteran" coffee downers, Why do you hate one people who use cream or sugar or milk it up? One thing I have noticed is that people who drink it totally black seem to feel above everyone else (In a coffee sense.) Is this something anyone else noticed, or am I crazy? That being said, I love coffee black or milky sugar depending on what I am in the mood for.
I noticed as well, don't pay any attention to them tho, at the end of the day is all about personal taste anyway. I drink both, but prefer milk & sugar in regular coffee and sugar only in espressos, totally black usually only if I am drunk
there' a brand new bialetti can can use powder as well as 2 differente recharges... it goes for 99euros and seems really good. if i'll buy it i'll let you guys know how it is
Once can do as well with a bean roaster, turkish coffee pot, and patience. Total cost: $45 for awesome coffee.
Fuck this, just make me some black coffee and slam it in a cup and put it on the table. Or for a little something special, grind bought beans instead of your average Folgers. I don't think I have any taste buds anyway.
