Seriously, I'm loving this news. This is the kind of game the Wii needs - a good, serious fighter. While it may not have SF4, this should be a welcome addition to the fighter fans on the platform. Heck, regardless of whether or not you have a Wii or even care for the console, it's a wonder this game is making it over.

come on Jon, I own most of Capcom's fighters already Are you really doubting me? the only reason i never imported this is because I need to get my wii's drive realigned, and nintendo won't do it if it's soft modded

If the US version is different I'll pick up the Japanese one as well....

 

If they change anything it will be the ability to play online. The Japanese version only allowed for offline vs play.

I really hope this isn't wii exclusive and comes to the 360 or the PS3 which are hdmi compatable. One of the reasons I've put off buying a wii is that it uses the standard rca inputs which is just ridiculous for a next gen system.

Very tempted to but a wii just for this if it is exclusive though.

Also - they might not have some characters in it.

Tatsunoko owns all those characters, but they license out characters to several companies for other country markets.

Example, TBS owned Gatchaman.

so for a Japanese release, all capcom needed was Tatsunoko to sign off on it.

A USA release though?

Every character that has the US rights belonging to another company (say ADV for example) needs to be in on it as well. The licensing is insane.

this is the same reason we never got the Shonen Jump Stars series (super stars and Ultimate stars)

Perhaps the stars aligned and the timing is right? The licensing rights could all be in the proper hands right now, which is why the USA release could be happening. When there are complex rights issues, releases like this simply don't happen.

There is a USA-produced CGI "Gatchaman" movie in production right now by Imagi studios (and yes, it's being called "Gatchaman"). So, perhaps those rights shifted hands a couple years ago. I can't imagine any of the other charaters being an issue. Gold Lightan? A giant cigarette lighter?

 

I know for a fact Tekkaman is an issue. Saban owns the US rights to it. And Karas is owned by Manga Entertainment.
