It looks like they're going to be using the Wii to power arcade cabinets, much as a modified GameCube was used to power arcade cabinets as the "TriForce". One such game is "Tasunoko Vs. Capcom". Does anyone have any further information about this game, or others based on the Wii? I'd love to get my hands on one, but I imagine the price might be a bit steep -- so I'd settle for some more photos.
Is that the only image Kevin Williams has published on his site? There have been a few cabinet images floating around for some time now and I remember someone pointing out what may have been a mock up on a website about a years ago that was based on the Wii. I'll have a look around.
Not "going to be using" but "have been using for quite awhile." And yes, TvC is running on Wii-based arcade hardware. That's why it is shipping for the Wii and not the PS3 or 360. -hl718
Anyone got any images of this unit opened up, the I/O board or any unique / custom chip PCBs? What media is it using GDrom / HDD? Thanks!
Here's something: http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r58526841 Doesn't give any details but that does look like some sort of HDD.
Wow, thanks for that - about £550.00 is I am not mistaken. Not a bad price given the fact it's so new. Would like to know a lot more about that piece of hardware, but not got the funds to hunt it down... damn! :banghead:
So it's an internal HDD that connects to the big white connector in the centre of the MoBo? Any idea what they use SD cards for? I'm also confused as to why there's the 2 USB sockets left over from the Wii that have no legitimate use. On a side note, anyone know why TvsC was developed for the Wii to begin with? It seems a very strange choice to make over Taito Type X2 and 360/PS3 home ports. It'll be interesting to see what other games (if any) become available on this hardware.
You might think that, but someone has told me that it's actually not an HDD, but a separate PCB with the game onboard that attaches to that connector. However, that black edge connector could also be an HDD power connector, so... Nobody I know has one or access to one for confirmation. The SD slot "may" be used for a security dongle port, although again no confirmation as yet. Lots of speculation on this and I don't currently have £550 spare to purchase the YHJ one to find out - sadly! :-(
Maybe dump idea, but what about to contact a dealer or directly to Nintendo or whatever do the board and ask for a specification?
I just wondered whether anyone had any information, there is very little of it about for this system.
