I keep forgetting to post these up, but here are some very sought after pictures of a TDEV unit pulled apart. I always promised that if I'd got one I'd do this and so here you have them:

Notice the mainboard is custom with 2 more 1T-SRAM modules on the bottom to expand the main RAM to 48MB.

Thanks for sharing these with the community, it's always nice to see the insides of rare dev hardware and I don't think there's ever been any publicly available internal shots of the TDEV before so it's much appreciated. Have you considered pulling the USB debugging interface module apart for pics of the insides of that, or is it a completely sealed unit?

Thanks to both of you for the pictures! =) Glad to see this elusive piece of hardware getting some documentation.

I'm not much into Nintendo dev stuff, but I'm with RetroJunkie: love to see the internals of electronic devices, especially those devices not sold to end consumers.

Yeah would be nice if I had the PC side software to actually do something without wiring in an IPL replacement.

I wonder if a brown controller was ever shipped with these?

You need the TDEV software? Humm, I might be able to get that for you. Let me know what it is, if it's a plugin for maya/VS.net or it's own software and if there's a disc image you need or what, and I'll see what I can do :)

EDIT: In fact I know the SN software (find it in my thread here) with the VS.NET integration has support for the TDEV, you just add the IP address of it and it can connect, you need the TDEV.gcm burned to an NR disc though (that's also in the download though) and to configure the network information (different gcm I think)

thanks splith. I'll give it a go one day. I assume a standard BBA will do the trick to obtain an IP address?

if i remember correctly there's a special adapter for the tdev that you need which is even more rare than the tdev itself. I've never see the adapter but i wonder what the possibilities of it being a standard BBA with custom firmware?

There's probably 2 ways to connect to the TDEV, one using the USB Serial port #1 connector and the other using the BBA, or you might need both. When I last saw about 20 of them all setup I can't remember if they had BBAs, I don't think they did, just the USB connectors. And the startups discs in them allowed them to run code on them from the computers or transfer graphics over directly (from maya or something) and view/manipulate them on the TDEV.
