I'm still waiting to fly back & grab my box but until then I've been restlessly trolling the internet =) Anyway.... Sonic 2 Beta from mercadolibre.com Sonic 2 Beta Tectoy Looks like the one that's been dumped but still thought it was still worth noting... View attachment 5780 S&K Tectoy Sonic & knuckles Tectoy with cool teeth marks on the front (from doing the bite test like gold?) & real screws in the back!
The first one is not a Tectoy cart. Looks like a random pirate copy for me. The 2nd one looks just like a normal retail version, but in a terrible condition. As for the screws, they look like regular ones that came on those carts.
the first one looks like a lot of pirate md carts that can be seen around here (Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina). Also that cart is TOO expensive...
Yea, there's no Tectoy sticker on the sonic 2 but for some reason the title on mercadolibre says it. I guess its like the pirate/beta thats been dumped a while ago with the beta title screen & Aquatic Ruin Zone as the 1st level. I forgot that S&K came with philips head screws instead of security ones... I was wondering why everything looked so expensive there... even folding knives that are usually $5 here are $470 on mercadolibre??
Dump Sonic 2 anyway if you can. It's likely that all of the pirates are the same but you never know what's lurking in the data.
That cart was very commom back on the days before Sonic 2 release. I wonder why is so hard to get them now.
Sometimes you might get lucky and find the Simon Wai S2B on a pirate multicart for a lot cheaper. It's definitely not as cool as having a bastardized Sonic 2 label, but a pirate cart is a pirate cart. It's still fun for messing with the beta on real hardware. ...Or you can just get Everdrive, either-or.
Some one here want to tell me what a Tectoy cart is? I've never heard or seem them before. Not to deep into sega collecting yet.
TecToy is great, they're essentially a Brazilian games company that also happens to be the Brazilian arm of Sega. They've released several Sega products to much success down there, and they've breathed new life into their old consoles with new software and hardware revisions. The Mega Drive 4 and the Master System Evolution are nice examples of this.
