Did any of you know ANYTHING about a game called Tekipaki for Megadrive? It's a prototype? Never existed?
It's a Toaplan puzzle game. There was a flyer printed. There was also a sequel scheduled for the arcades before the company went tits up which you can read about in this interview with Junya Inoue.
Many games were scheduled,EVEN REVIEWED in Megadrive issues ( Megadrive Fan,etc) and finally never appeared in stores..Tekipaki is one of those dozen games.
The question was posted after I knew the location of the copy BTW, there is any reference of the value of this game? a prior auction or something...
Never seen it, but I don't follow MD betas in the least. Pretty cool item to have, but it's an arcade port. In almost every situation, I'd rather play the arcade version.
Yeah, as in every other game-platform. This is not a matter of playability, is a matter of collector's curiosity, to know the differences, if it's a finished proto, why it never was published, etc. All those things are the ones that force me to keep collecting videogames, can't stop the drug!
Just don't pay double (triple) what its worth this time. That fucks prices up for all us collectors you know.
Tetris is priceless for me... this is not, and BTW, which is the correct price for this one? No clue no way to know...
Without doing any research, I will lay down a crisp 1000 yen note that says it's b/c Toaplan went under before they could release it.
most sega megadrive unreleased games doesn't fetch insanely high prices. a thousand euros would be a unreasonnable high price I guess, as nobody cares about such stuff lol
