As the title says a brand new, sealed box version of the original Tekki (aka Steel Battalion) game for the Xbox. The box is in fantastic condition.

One problem with the box is that it looks scuffed up to hell, however the scuffs are all printed on the box as part of the artwork! There are no marks, dents or scuffs as far as I can see.

As you can see the seals are in tact and have not been tampered with.

The item is in Japan and the postage will be in the region of $160 (EMS), can send other methods including sea (which can be insured). The box will be wrapped in plastic then a ton of cellair (foam sheeting) then wrapped in strong cardboard sheeting before being put into a padded and strong box for shipping so it will get you in perfect condition.

I am asking $200 or any sensible offer. Although it's unlikely you'll have anything I really want for a trade.

    Although I am after...

A debug Playstation 1 (pref in blue and Japanese)
Reasonablely modern shoot 'em up arcade board.
A Palm based PDA (not smartphone) that runs Palm OS 5 (pref Palm or Sony Clie)
    A SLR digital camera

Don't feel sorry for the populous cartridge, it is badly damaged, has writting on the back and for some reason someone decide to put American Gladiators rom board inside it for some weird reason....

I could ship by sea and it would be around $80 and SAL would be $130.

it kinda makes you wonder, capcom releasing such huge peripheral for Japan(where houses aren't very sizable).

For anyone interested, any idea if it's the blue or green button version (or was the blue version only released outside of Japan)?

The original Steel Battalion which Jamtex is offering came with green buttons. Tekki Online had another box:

So, the Tekki Online box-style is an indicator that it contains the blue variation? Mine came new in the same box Jamtex is offering, but it has blue buttons (it's also NTSC).

USA had two versions, same box.

Japan had two boxes, two versions.

Same in Europe, only Japan got a differently styled box for the online version.

I don't know if there was any limitation in quantity in either Japan or the US though. For example in Germany we got only 500 original Steel Battalions and a considerably bigger but not unlimited number of 2nd release versions.

    Hi Ave,

any differences in button color or something else different between these two shipments? The first batch (IIRC only a couple thousands) for whole EU region was very small, so it would be interesting.

Tekki (Steel Battalion) was the offline version of the game and had green coloured buttons
Tekki Line of Contact (as above...) is the online (only) version of the game that had blue buttons which now has limited functionality... The EU / American box is the same design but it does have Line Of Contact on the box so you can see the difference, just the Japanese box does look cooler. :)

Both games were also sold as retail copies so you could play the other without having to buy the controller again, although Tekki is harder to find alone then Tekki Line of Contact (which seems to be everywhere as it has limited functionilty due to Capcom shutting the servers down).

In Japan over 20,000 copies were sold of Tekki box set (an additional 2,000 retail versions were sold, this makes it on of the top 20 best selling Xbox games in Japan.....) and as it's not too hard to pick up it up in the UK (www.cex.co.uk always have some in stock...) and I've gone through 6 already.

I do have serious doubts that it was limited to hundreds in parts of europe, I managed to find at least 4 units (new) over 9 months after release in Holland in Tilburg and Breda, which were two smallish cities...

If this doesn't get sold, then it will be opened up and used which is a bit sad as there probably not that many completely sealed versions around rather then the opened and 'Honest guv, it's new, look the game is still sealed... and don't worry about the plastic bags being crumpled, I took the controller out to take photos of it...'

so you reckon the small shipment unmbers published around the press were mostlx to generate a sense of scarcity, and to generate a run on the product.

Could be. Then again, i was looking for the original Tekki boxset one and reserved it before it came out, the biggest video game retailer in Munich only got a shipment of 3 units total, unable to order more. They all went to preorders , including mine. Hardly representative, but i got the feeling there couldnt be thousands around in Germany, also given the prohibitive Price tag in Europe. (no longer totally sure, but i think it ewas 300 EUR / 400 USD).

Also interesting, i just checked my box, It never had the red seals on it.

Don`t open it.....keep it minty fresh & sealed

IMHO if you don`t need to open it.............don`t!!!!!!!

I have 4 at home, one was opened to play/use and the others are all still minty fresh even in their delivery boxes with the reference numbers and crap!!!

I am sure both batches in the UK had limited runs, like 2-3000

Just checking and quite a few sites say about 2000 worldwide for each

If this was the case I am sure we could probably do a run on who they are all with ;-)

    I`ll start with 4 :eek:h:

I don't know about the other European countries but according to magazines from the time there were not more than 500 to be sold in Germany. I remember the run on Amazon and the like, they ran out of stock within a day and people who still got one for 200 Euro earned a lot of jealous stares. I can't say it was ever worth more than the retail price though, not even shortly after release when it was sold out.

If it was not sealed (with a lower price) I would buy. It's a very nice item but I can't afford this much for a sealed one. ;-)

If I could find such item here in Brazil...

Last chance to get what is probably a great collectors item in nice new minty condition. I'm not joking when I say it will get opened and used if it doesn't sell, It will be used, but I rather sell this one to a collector and then buy a second hand used one...

I have 3 of these in storage, I think they maybe the LOC version as stated above, although im pretty certain one had the green button layout.

Guess i will sit on them a little longer.

One day i will take my camera down to the storage, Its mainly software and not hardware but i do have a few oddities in there such as brand new panasonic 3do's and Atari jaguars. I believe i even still have a sealed NES system kicking around too.

The biggest thing i kick myself over was giving my imported Virtual Boy to a canadian cousin as i simply couldnt find any software for it over here in europe, that and its migrain inducing abilitys haha.
