I'm a fan of ninjas. So Tenchu is a dream come true. Now I've only Play Tenchu 1, Wrath of Heaven and Z. Wrath of Heaven is simply just ok, the first game is awesome and I think Z doesn't deserve the bad reviews it got. But I haven't played the other games in the series, 2, Fatal shadows, the Elusive Euro/Japan only PSP game and DS. But from what I understand Tenchu is a series of mixed quality. And I don't have much faith in it translating to the WII for it's next 3 iterations How can the Wii mote be used to be all NINJAY and keep the game play smooth? It's gonna be a mess. But yeah. What do you think? Tenchu underrated, overated inconsistant with quality or it just out right sucks and is a game for Ninja Wanna be Weeaboos?
I liked the first/second one because of the cool stealth kills and stuff. They don't really play as good now though. I thought the demo of Z was pretty boring.
Well Being stealthy which is what Z's focus is on can be pretty boring no? Some missions require you not to kill at all.
No, I mean, the game itself is just boring. I thought Tenchu would be cool on 360 but it was just crap. Same with the old Xbox one. It would be nice if they did one right though.
I kinda dig Z but gotta ask you this though Did you play Ninja Gaiden 2 BEFORE Tenchu Z or after? How about Assassin's Creed. Assassin's Creed is Tenchu in a Sandbox.
I played Tenchu Z when it first came out. Never played Assassins Creed. Speaking of ninja games, how is Shinobi on PS2?
first two were alright(loved soundtrack to the first one), wrath was enjoyable to a certain extent, the one on 360? tragedy, I don't know how could they release this.
BLASPHEMY! There's never been another series where you can hone your ninja skills. You must not know how to play. I'll be your kaishakunin. Wrath sucks because it's the first by K2 but Fatal turned out to be a beautiful but pointless sequel. Really the best were Tenchu 1 and 2, both by Acquire. Since Acquire now has the contract again, the Wii game should actually be good since they're merging/unforking their Shinobido improments back into Tenchu... despite the change in art direction (which at this point seems for the worse) the game has to be good.
In my mind Tenchu was the only fun one to play... all the others were Garb Garb. :crying: One Hit Wonder if you ask me.
I tried playing Tenchu on PS1 but I couldn't do it. With the horrible draw distance and camera issues etc it was just too much. But I thought Tenchu WoH (the first I played) was decent enough. My favorite was Tenchu Z actually. Not sure why anyone would like Tenchu 1 and hate Tenchu Z unless they are just being elitist about the "classic" PS1 game. Also I didn't think Shinobi on PS2 sucked. I never played all the way through it but it seemed decent enough.
Tenchu Z is just stright up Ninjaing no supernatural anything. That makes it way more appealing to me. Stealth Kills in Z are way more satisfying for me too but it's awesome to just find your target and kill them without killing any guards too. Combot however......could be more fluid. Shinobi on PS2 sucks becuase it's too hard. That's the logic most people use. But As I said it's way better with an action replay.
Tenchu 1 and 2 are really dated now, I guess to appreciate them you'd have to had played them in 1998 and 2000. In my opinion, they had the best design, characters and mood of the series. K2 brought too little to the sequels, yeah they did a few touchups for next-gen, but honestly fans expected way more depth and technical play on PS2 that Acquire would have delivered instead of empty spinoffs. Soon the series will be back on track though, just sadly not on the PS3 BTW, this is how Shinobi/Kunoichi should be played (masochistically): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--OEM1pI-e4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVRfRfcxjug
Shinobi? Depends on how you define a "good" game. "Die-repeat-master" isn't my cup of tea, considering the little time I can afford to play games. I like games that are actually and actively enjoyable.
I definitely agree with you on this point. Who said you should even be able to complete the game? That's a serious problem with modern games. They are dumbed down for the average and sucky players so they can "beat" the game. It wasn't always this way. You had to actually be good to finish games.
