Do you have a link to the type of double-sided tape you are referring to. I'm curious. I've go some thin ones but they are still pretty thick for this application and they are no quite as sticky as the original. I mentioned spray adhesive only because I have it at home and it has that same gummy/sticky feel. if I no intention of swapping out the battery for the next 20 years, I'll probably spray it on and call it a day. Using latex caulk is another option. I suppose it all boils down to personal preference and how easily you want to replace the battery in the future.

Just search eBay for "3m adhesive sticker" and you'll get a whole bunch of them designed for use on different types of devices. Obviously, you want one that's a nice big sheet instead of little shreds, so ones intended for iPods are a good choice:

They're literally a thin, double-sided film just like in your photo. I used them to replace the stickers on the bottom of my Xbox's rubber feet and they worked perfectly.

Really? I guess no one likes exploding Hu Cards :p How do you know that anyway?

Look like it. They designed it to barely overlap the recessed area on the cover to create a vent. They definitely didn't designed the card to be user serviceable. They actually could have made the battery sit a bit lower with venting and have that black plastic extend over the battery to eliminate the bulging cover.

All kinds of batteries generate some kind of gas as they discharge. So they have special vents for that purpose. Lithium button cells are a special exception to this rule but the designer of the card put a hole on the plastic anyway, for safety...
