The Sega TeraDrive's wikipedia page and a few other sources say that the computer came with a SDK that would allow you develop Mega Drive games from the TeraDrive's PC side. I can't really tell if this is a rumor or a confirmed fact... does anyone have more information?
I've seen magazine advertisements that say it does, so I guess it's true. Though every TeraDrive owner I ask don't have it so far. I think you had to pay more for the SDK.
Was the SDK even geared towards home users? I mean, what good would assembling your own Mega Drive game be (assuming you were a technical enough home user), if you had no way of running the ROM on a Mega Drive?
I think the point of having the SDK for the TeraDrive is that once you developed the game on the PC side you could somehow load the ROM and run it from the Mega Drive side. Does anyone here have or know someone who has this SDK?
I had a Megadrive Fan magazine nearby which had an article about the Teradrive "SDK" as it were, so here are a couple of scans. If anybody wants to translate what it all says, go right ahead. http://www.disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/images/Teradrive1a.jpg http://www.disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/images/Teradrive1b.jpg
