This is probably quite a nooby question, but I've googled around and found no clear consensus. I'm trying to play the (E) [!] rom of Terranigma on my early revision NTSC(U) Super Nintendo. I'm using one of the cheap 'n' nasty Super UFO Pro 8 carts, and just sticking the untouched rom on the SD gives me the lockout screen (This game may not be designed for play on your Super Famicom/Super Nintendo system). I patched the rom with the NTSC IPS patch, but still get the same message. I've seen some mention of a PAR code to disable the lockout screen, but can't find the actual code(s). I was thinking of doing a simple switched CIC disable, but part of me feels (and I'm just guessing here) that the absence of the CIC will still trigger the lockout screen.

I know the game can be made to work on copiers, because I've found reference to people playing it that way, could be PAL rom on PAL SNES though I guess.

    Any suggestions?

Can't speak to your specific problem but just wanted to say Terranigma is one of my favourite games of all time ever since I first played it at the age of 13 in 1996.

Hasn't some bright spark translated the Japanese ROM so that it can run on US SNESes with English now?

I can't help you directly but I know this game checks the console region by looking at the 50/60Hz setting.
Disabling the CIC wouldn't help here. One way to work around this is modding your console with a region switch
and then starting the title in pal mode and switching to ntsc, once it's loaded.
I bet there's a better software based way though, maybe even built into the flash cart somewhere.

SNES is locked to 50hz or 60hz in hardware. Without modding, all games who block the "wrong" mode need a patch/cheat.

applying the usa patch worked for me on a super famicom, otherwise 50/60hz would do the trick.

fantastic game, one of the best action rpgs

SuperCIC would've done the trick too - boot in 50Hz then let it switch to 60 after a few seconds. Or do it manually if you have an oldschool switch-mod. But of course just patching the game is way easier. For future reference, iirc ucon64 can do that, no need to hunt down ips files for individual games (in most cases).

ordered a couple of 1P2T switches off eBay, seems like an easy mod to do CIC and Hz switch.

Patched version still returns error message - probably the crappy Super UFO's fault.

I don't know, I'm not familiar with the mod - never had a need of it before being in NTSC territory. Terranigma is a bit of an odd one having had an (E) release but not (U).
