Awesome, I got it working by converting to a MODE1 sector size 2048 iso, patched it, and converted back to a MODE2 sector size 2336 image. I don't know if this is an unusual format, and why Loser's Master Patcher could not patch it, but it seems to work. The disc drive is extremely noisy, but this might just be the case of CD-based PS2 games?
    Thanks for the help!

I'm looking to find the reason for the noise in CD games as well. There's lots of chirping going on when the console reads CD games (I'm testing with PSX. Originals and backups, where backups are lots worse even.)

Isn't it simply just noisier when CD-ROM discs are used? It also makes more noise, when my HDD Utility Discs are booted.
    I mean, won't a CD-ROM (24x) spin quite a bit faster than a DVD-ROM (4x)?

Even with my slimline console, the motor noise is not as loud, but I can hear the sound of air rushing.

It depends on the game (PSX or PS2 game), PSX spins at slower speeds.
But the rpm aren't what creates the noise, it's the coils in the read head that somehow work much harder when CD is used.

PS2 CD-ROM games run at 24x as SP193 mentioned. PS1 CDs will run at 1x or 2x depending if it's reading data or CD-DA. If you go to the OSD and set the PS1 driver to run the disc at high speed before starting the game, it will make the exact same noise PS2 discs do, but it may cause glitches on the games, depending on if they're poorly coded or not.

The glitches you witness on PS1 games while using the high speed mode are of similar nature to that of the glitches you get on Open PS2 loader for data coming too fast for the games while loading them from the HDD.

I have no issue with noise with PS1 CD based games, so at least in my case the 24x speed explains it, though is quite a funny design. But I have heard that when the laser gets worn on a PS2, you can hear the strain of the console trying to read the disc on CD games especially so?
