Anyone else here play Texas Hold 'em? I used to play $3/$6, $5/$10, and $10/$20 structured games in Tokyo. I just found my first home game here in Hawaii, in military housing of all places. Nice guys actually. They play $1/$2 No Limit, which is not what I'm used to, but I faired pretty well. I play online as well, and am in a very costly slump at the moment... way more than I've ever spent on games in a month.
Sounds like good advice... I think if I can find two regular home games, I can say fuck you to this online shit.
I play on bugsy's club online but I'm too tight to play for money on there. I play with my mates fairly often as well. We have a lads poker night every once in a while. I'm pretty shit though.
I occasionally play poker, but rarely for money. And if it is for money, it's usually just coins. I often play with my friends in the restaurant in uni, but we usually end up using bits of plastic cups and napkins for currency. Yeah, we're wusses ^_^ I see some people playing online for hours on end in the computer labs here. They've got issues. And they probably haven't noticed the cameras...
Hey Gaijinpunch Hows it going? I just started posting here. I dont know if you know it but Ive been playing poker for a living for a few years now. No limit Holdem with members of the military sound pretty yummy to me How deep is everyone in the game? What site are you playing online? Party is by far the best as far as fish ratios go. They also have a pretty good reup bonus every month. Stars, paradise and UB are ok but nowhere near the fish ratio fo party. If you want I can give you a pretty good strategy to beat "good" no limit games but its pretty boring to play. The good thing though is when youre playing online you can just play multiple games if you're playing tight. Best thing is to make sure you have 1600x1200 res so you can put 4 poker screens at a time on one monitor with no overlap. I actually had a computer specfically built for poker with 3 monitors running 1600x1200.
Hey sportbetter -- glad to see you made it. Didn't know you were playing online. I've been playing at Paradise Poker, and just pissed away another few hundred bucks. The bad beats are killing me, but the shitty cards are even worse. I'm going to give it up for a few weeks, play w/ these guys live (maybe find another live game) then come back. I can't tell you how many time I've flopped a set w/ a PP, then get killed w/ a rivered flush. I'm really taking a beating. I hear that Party Poker does have a lot of fish, but the hands are juiced way harder than other sites. Maybe we can play sometime and you can tell me why I'm taking such a fucking beating. Just seems I'm outkicked or rivered all the time. FYI -- I usually play short-handed limit (5/10) online... and I do multitable. Just seems the tighter I play, the more I lose.
GP, sportbettor doesnt happen to be that poker fanatic we met in that restaurant? Having a PC built just for poker sounds exactly like something he would do
Hehe... no, that's just a friend I'm still in contact with. He's a great player (poker pays his rent I think, but it's not his whole job) but even he gets into some pretty shitty slumps... we're usually in them together.
