Thank you all for my re-interest in the classic consoles. Set up my SNES last night after not being played in years (the shame) and tested my games most actually worked quite well except for Killer instinct which lost sound mid game, Stunt Race FX which just crashed during the race and had a couple not load properly at all first but managed to get them going. Most surprising for me is that after all these years and games I bought from people without proper testing is that the save files were still available for me to use as I was expecting the battery to be dead in the cartridges especially the copies of Mario All Stars (Original and with Super mario World). Thank you again for giving me the motivation to go and replay all them great games which look still great in this day and age. I urge anyone who has old playable consoles (not new in boxes obviously) to set em up and give em a go... time to set up some more gaming goodies
Give your cart slot a good clean, as well as the aforementioned carts, and they may come right back to life!
Both its great to see old games in their glory where gameplay went before graphics. Thanks for the tips will have to try them out and see if it fixes the issues.
Yep. Old games on their original hardware are the way to go. If you're really serious about getting the best possible experience out of your old consoles, you should use RGB. Can be difficult depending on where in the world you live, but it is possible. And it's well worth it.
If you take apart that Stunt Race FX cart and throw in a 27mhz or 32mhz crystal, you'll find it's a lot more playable.
Now, when you say "throw in," I'm assuming it's a bit more complicated than that. And the last time I tried it, it was pretty much unplayable.
