In the last few months I have bitched and moaned endlessly about my problems trying to put together a working Playstation 1 development kit. During the hunt I've been ripped off twice, had several 'leads' which sadly came to nothing, been promised material that never arrived and managed by hook & by crook to slowly pull together various parts. My guess is that I was just as likely to have trouble obtaining this stuff as anyone else, but I have jokingly called it 'My Nemesis' as so many boards & parts have slipped through my fingers on Yahoo Japan & eBay, various sales threads and the like for so long now that I just laugh these pitfalls off now. However, I would really like to thank Unclejun for looking out for parts, mentioning them whenever they appeared on eBay or in particular his hunting grounds of Yahoo Japan! He and I have missed many items. It simply couldn't be helped! Festerfly realising my situation and passion for the PS1 actually GAVE me a particular board I was looking for in a trade some time ago. However, massive thanks go to Limey who spotted a set of cheap DTL-H2000 boards on eBay in the USA (I hadn't spotted them) and not only did he contact me, but he bid on them, secured them, got them to his place in the US and before shipping them on actually took the time out to ensure that they were worth sending across the waves! This is fast shaping up as another community effort and I really appreciate it. I'd like also to ask a particular member (no names mentioned) to consider selling the particular remaining parts. He and I previously discussed the missing items and they are invaluable to getting the kit up and running. At present I have 50% of the early revision and I actually have parts of the newer development kit. I am willing to swap my newer bits for the older version of CDrom for instance (black external one I require), for the cream finished internal one that the 2500/2700 require. If he/she is still willing then please PM me soon! ;-) I've actually got all the software & PDF documents required. I would like the genuine paper documents however. I really would like to obtain the Artist & Audio boards if possible. It'll take a bit of time and I am nowhere near as Old Engineer! I am really interested to see what his turns out like and any information on setting it up, any issues that arouse that were not covered in documentation etc would be gratefully received.
Well, here it is thus far. Nowhere near as complete as OE's, yet getting to the point I can almost switch it on. 1) CDU-921s (missing CD caddy), no SCSI cable, no SCSI card 2) DTL-H800 Digital Audio card (I suspect this for a different revision) 3) DTL-H2000 Main development board(s) across 2 PCB 4) DTL-H2035 CDrom generator floppy disc 5) DTL-H2080 Controller box & 2 x PS1 controllers 6) DTL-H2510 CDrom (I suspect for different revision) 7) DTL-S2002 Programmers Tools & Libraries 3.6 to suit DTL-H2000 8) DTL-S2003 Tech reference DVD to suit DTL-H2000 etc. So, still need the AV Cable, to install and set-up plus find the correct CDrom unit, plus parts that are missing. Hey ho!
No, this is a PC I have had sitting in the attic for well over a year actually. It came from a skip ;-)
Ooohh... very nice. That brings back memories. We had a couple of those where I worked, both in computer cases missing the plastic front covers. The books I cherished. Two lovely red tomes of information. I made everybody else on the team use the PDF's or look at my examples. My only regret for leaving the company, was that I didn't get around to inheriting a kit and the books. Myself, I'm trying to pull together a caetla/catflap setup. I have a PS1 with a port, a gameshark and action replay clone, but no comm link card or alternatively an xploder/xplorer.
I have a CDU-948S (internal) CD writer if you're interested in it? It comes with caddy and SCSI cables.
