Yeah, the wireless capabilities of the 60 gig model is the only thing I wish the 20 gig had. Eh, oh well.
I really wish the 360 did have atleast an option for caching or partial installs in some games for faster loading. Gears of War comes to mind with its steaming textures that sometimes take awhile to load so you see some oddly untextured things. Not to mention faster loading is always nice. You should have the choice (like Ninja Gaiden Sigma apparently has) to install data on the harddisk for faster loading.
Two days ago the 20GB SKU dissapeared from the sonystyle store, so it was almost official then. I bet all the idiots getting the 60GB SKU over the 20GB are those of the "pimp my ride" crowd, since only that kind of people has the bad taste necesary to pay $100 more for those hideous silver details...
they are paying 100 more because of the wifi, larger hdd & memory card reader slots. Not the silver trip.
Dude it would be cheaper to buy the 20GB and put a 120GB disk, but most people dont know that. Anyway, you're right with the memory cards, and maybe the WiFi, but believe me, I once worked in market research and most people is drawn to these products mostly due to aesthetic details, not real hardware. Just check most of the Motorola lineup and tell me I'm wrong. None of those phones would sell if it wasnt for the "looks".
I have one, the case is different. And shadowlayer, that is exactly why I got mine. No worthless wifi and I can add a large HDD and still be under the price of the premium. The 60 gb has a part that flips up for the memory cards. The 20gb, it's solid plastic with no hinges. So it is a different case.
Just like the Elite 360, People will buy it predominantly for the larger hard drive & HDMI port. Not everybody is going to go cough up more $$$ because it's a black case. A huge issue people still complain about the 360 is having to go out and purchase a wifi adapter which is an extra $100 onto the cost. In high end electronics, Functionality out weighs design. If it was purely down to astetics on the ps3, more would go with the 20GB model (as the few friends I know who it mattered to went with the 20GB model). I personaly went 20GB because I have a limited gaming budget and prefer to run network over wires. Also yes I knew it's cheaper to swap out the hdd my self and I own a psp so I dont need a MS reader.
Well yeah, but the HDMI is a big reason, and you cant replace the HDD with a normal one, which makes it cheaper than buying the official one separately. The elite represents a different scenario, more like the one we would see if the 20GB PS3 came out without HDMI as originaly intended. Anyway, I just wanted to make a quick joke about the "bling bling" from the 60GB SKU and how some people like that (and even payed for custom paintjobs).
