I bought my 360 in January and mine barely even gets warm, it was on for 8 hours straight yesterday and had no problems what-so-ever.
Yes but if you replace the part with another exactly like it guess how it will fail? The playstation was a piece of junk because of the laser assembly. I knew of noone who didn't put it on its side just to play a game. Sans that it was good hardware. And the NES had huge problems with the blinking screen because the ZIF connector went in at an angle and caused the pins to pull away from the cart connector over time. A top down model didn't have this issue. Day to day operations shouldn't cause guaranteed failure. Period.
It WILL eventually happen. Microsoft has stated this. The "54%" or whatever statement comes from saying more than half of them have red ringed. now if that statement is correct by chance, that's one thing. The other problem is that the number comes from a nonscientific poll
I'm tempted to just buy a new 360 and a new warranty. If this repiared one dies, I'm just buying a new one.
I shouldn't have posted about the luck I have had with my current 360. I was downloading some Rockband songs last night and it froze in the middle and when I restarted it was RROD. Luckily I had just bought another one from a co-worker who had received 3 of them as birthday presents, and I figured at a 100 it was as good of a deal as I was going to find and a backup never hurts. Well hopefully number 6 lasts a few years. Luckily it is a newer version of the arcade with the hdmi.
