While doing the rounds in Akihabara I came across this little shop that sold nothing but clones. Just check out some of these. TREAMCAST - ok nothing too special but still, nice to see one in Japan. Do you remember that clone we all thought could be a cloned PSX (PlayStation)? Well, it turns out just to be another boring Famicom clone. Here it is witha load of other famicom clones. The one pictured above that looks like a PSX pad is pretty cool. Notice the Sega style font used as well. Below is that Famicom clone that's also a personal computer and one that looks like a PSOne with screen. Here's a Mega Drive clone. not too often you see these. and finally not really a clone but very odd. A PS2 pad with a built in LCD Screen. Yakumo
Those are the Hip Gear pads. They were sold here (not sure about other places) briefly. They pretty much bombed due to their high price ($100), but since most retailers are now clearing them out for $25, they've gained in popularity, mostly with Xbox modders.
not really. Only a few thousand yen. Shame I din't have any way to bring them back without the missus noticing Yakumo
Yes, I thought that was what I wrote but it looks liek I missed out the R. All fixed now though. Yakumo
I didnt even know they sold those ps2 pads with a screen over there, mind you they arent cheap, they went for like $250-300 and they had ones for xbox and i think cube as well, theyre not too hard to find around where i live. Btw how was the quality on it.
They were about $100 down here. I hear the quality is actually pretty good. I've seen most people stick them in their Xbox front panel. I never saw the point, but it does look neat. You can get them on ebay for around $25-35 now.
Woah, now that is all kinds of cool. What is that hooked up to? Is that an LCD game in the VMU window? I want one. That would be a neat casing to fit a real dremcast controller into with the 6 face buttons and all.
Nah, the VMU place just had a few flashing LEDs on it which probably told you bugger all. The clone is just a Famicom one witha load of games built in and no cartridge port. Yakumo
Hey, the famiclone with a screen, what is that called and how much was it? Was the screen in color? Been waiting for a famiclone with it's own built in screen like that.
It had no price but it was in colour. There was only one too and that was in the glass case that you can see in the picture. I also have no idea what it was called. By the way, if you want to use these pictures on your site Hawanja then let me know so I can send you the un-watermarked ones. Don't forget to give credit though Yakumo
The MegaDrive clone joypad is exactly the same Master System Handy sold in Brazil...Of course, except the additional 4 buttons http://www.tectoy.com.br/videogame/handy/index.asp
