The Bandai Video Challenger, the western version of the Bandai Telebiko. Obscure, check. Rare, check. Horribly shitty, double check.

Now as all gamers know, Big Rigs is meant to be to worst game ever but last night when I was ripping the VHS tapes (yes, VHS tapes) for this "gaming" system I found something diabolically bad. Judge for yourselves, here are the rips:

Bandai Video Challenger - Turtle Challenge (Part 1)
Bandai Video Challenger - Turtle Challenge (Part 2)

Bandai Video Challenger - Sky Wars

Bandai Video Challenger - Space Challenge (Part 1)
Bandai Video Challenger - Space Challenge (Part 2)

Archive of box, tape and manual scans

Enjoy, and try not to have a seizure. ;-)

Maybe they were made for Europe. Over in the UK we called hem Hero Turtles due to Ninja being too violent for kids, apparently.

Probably because it was beign sold in the UK. Ninjas are a big no no in England for some reason. You can't show nunchucks (chain sticks) either, which always made me wonder how they ever showed TMNT at all.

You know, I got an email not that long ago which says that "telebiko" is actually a different product by Bandai (some kind of telephone game that connects to a television) and that the actual Japanese name for this system also translates to "Video Challenger." Thus a lot of sites out there get it wrong (my own included.)

Here is a pic of the insides, which is actually from you Incog Nito, which you emailed me before:

And here's a pic of the Telebiko, which confirms it's a different machine, some kind of kid's video phone toy:

Do you happen to have footage of the Godzilla game for this system?

    thanks in advance

It's because in the 70's people got into the whole Kung-Fu thing and started buying nunchucks and trying to practice. This resulted into many injuries. So the government banned all that stuff and somehow ninjas also got included (I guess because of ninja stars and so forth).

    Slightly OT:

This has all changed in the last 7 - 10 years. The BBFC/VRA have shown mercy on us and decided that we (the UK public) may use the work 'Ninja' again and even own a pair of nunchuks.

When the TMNT films were released theatrically to the UK the nunchuks were all erased digitally by our merciful censors.

Odder still was the banning (or self-censoring) of the word 'chainsaw' during the mid to late 1980s from any video (VHS) film. Hence the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was never released here until some 10 to 15 years later. The cheap STV 'Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers' simply became 'Hollywood Hookers.' (kind of eliminating the whole horror angle in the process...)

Unlike the USA here in the UK our censors word is LAW. If they don't like = we don't see it. Yup, we really do live in a country controlled by a small select group of 10 - 12 people who sit above us all...(or think they do)

Just finished watching SAW 4 on DVD. man, just imagine what the censors would have said if they saw that in the early 80's !

UK still has some serious censor laws, about different stuff. Such as mail porn order and British internet porn shops are illegal. Well, thoughts are tollfree. Or else I would probably be offending some UK people. Even hardcore porn is still not really legal in the UK. But hey that was m two cents, and I think I have already said too much shit in this part.

Voilent porn was outright banned last year and swords got banned this year. Importing replica samurai swords can get you 6 years in jail.

I remember reading about that, and IIRC, two exceptions are collectors (and I believe THEY get final say on whether your "collection" is such or just merely purchases for whatever reason) and martial artists who use them as part of their art.

I'm not surprised that hard core violent porn is band. Some of that shit is bordering on rape. The Japanese actually have rape porn for sale. The mozake out the dick etc. but why? you've watching rape for fucks sake. Some people are sick !

Yakumo-sama, I am against rape. But there are other areas, where the UK goes to the extreme. Just to clarify some things. But isn´t Japanese "Rape porn", not acting as in it was rape, but it isn´t ?

Since if it is rape, then of course it is some of the most sickest shite ever.

But not to offend you Yakumo, but seriously your country, has not at all come out of the Victorian era at all.
And no I am not only attacking UK, since I should sweep in front of my own door, before I sweep in front of others door. So no worries there.

But then again, I would say some American porn then, is "rape porn" too. But screw it anyway, I am not that fond of the American porn either, with a few exceptions of course. Other than that, then my tastes in porn are varied, But whether it is Japanese "rape porn", American, Russian, and german for that matter. Then I think it is sick without a doubt. But then again, isn´t the Japanese "rape porn" a "play rape" of some sort. Just like (some) SM videos are just play.

That is just wrong. What cha' gonna do, go rob a bank with a broadsword? Hold up a liquor store with a cutlass? What are you, Long John Silver? That is just loony, I tell you. Utter loonyness.

I would certainly hope it is simulated. I would assume that if it were the real thing, it would be illegal.

Back on topic, anyone have footage of the Godzilla game for this system?

I don't know about the Japanese rape porn being pretend.n The one I saw a bit of (Couldn't and didn't want to watch the whole thing) looked very real to me. 5 or so guys grab a teenager of the street (country road) then take her to a field. You can guess what happened next. F*ing sick bastards some people are.
