i have just remembered that theres this thing called xlink that would let you play on gamecube online and also you can play ps1 and ps2 also xbox online and it still works to this day has anyone else heard of this before?
I haven't heard of it but I know there is an official PS2 Network adapter that still works with some games. There is a broadband adapter for the GameCube but it only works with LAN games now. You can do 8-Player MKDD with it. As for the Xbox, it has an Ethernet port built-in so System-Link still works over LAN. For the PS1, there is a system link cable that works on some games.
It's kind of like a tunneling software that makes your console think you're playing over LAN when you're online. So theoretically I think it works with all LAN or system link games. Never tried it myself, but I hear it works pretty well for MKDD and Kirby Air Ride. And Halo
Oh ok. Are the Halo CE PC servers still up or did they get shutdown? I haven't played Halo PC in a while and I've never played it online.
Xlink kai http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ Read about it there, still support PS2 .... Was also used by modded PS3 and 360 community to skirt the PSN and Xboxlive networks. The network is not console specific , and requires some tailoring , but worked quite well every time I ever used it.
I have played a bit with Playstation 2 and XBOX, it works pretty good if you find people. Here's a game i've played time ago with Xlink Kai.
Anybody have any idea about the community for MKDD!! in relation to this? If there are people using this to play online I would love to be able to join the fray.
I honestly wouldn't mind paying that much if there's a community of people who still play it. I never got to play MKDD!! online in its heyday and it would be quite a treat for me.
MKDD was never online officially, Nintendo figured people hated that silly online fad and that connecting to the GBA was the way of the future.
That last part made my chuckle! MKDD is a LAN game and tunneling is the only way to play it online. I've never done this before because I don't have the BBA. I actually use the GameCube GBA link cable with my GBA when I play games on the Game Boy Player. This means I can use my GBA as a controller for actual GBA controls instead of the GCN's controller. You don't even need those special GBP controllers at that point.
I'm surprised that not many people know that you can use a GBA as a GBP controller. Am I the only one that uses a GBA as a controller?
I'm not the only one? Yay! I actually wonder how many people know about this feature. Maybe this could be a good topic for Pat the NES Punk's CUPodcast.
That's actually really good to know for reviewing GBC/GBA games, since using the Game Boy Player is by far the easiest method for recording decent footage.
Is it really? I've only recorded footage with the GBP a couple times for fun but it was with composite and it looked horrible. I haven't tried recording Pokemon games via Pokemon Stadium 2 on the N64 with my HD PVR 1 yet. Hopefully it will actually work instead of giving a black screen when in the Game Boy Tower. Can't wait to record footage with GCVideo DVI. It will be 480p over true digital HDMI! Well technically it is DVI using an HDMI cable. If only I had a decent HDMI to Component converter or an HDMI capture device.
