Just watched Scarface for the first time last night after everyone said it was a top film. Cant believe I missed out and waited so long to see it. Can anyone recommend any other classics I may of missed out on? I think the next one to watch will be Godfather.

Nosferatu, starring Max Schreck, 1922. Doesn't get more classic than those films.

Also, try the Lost World, based on Arthur Conan Doyle's book, 1925.

Then again, you might not like black-and-white silent movies like I do ^_^

Raising Arizona, The Princess Bride, Blade Runner, Deer Hunter, Shawshank Redemption, Heat, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, another vote for Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Memento, and I might get caned for this, but the original Die Hard is pretty much my favorite action movie ever.

    Just to name a few

if we`re doing Kubrick, you have to see the 1950`s Lolita and Dr Strangelove.

Also Apocalypse now, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, The Deer Hunter.

Just realised GP beat me to it with a couple of these, so make sure you see them. Got to see Blade Runner if you havent seen it, make sure its the directors cut not the theatrical cut.

If you' re into westerns, also try The Good , the Bad and the Ugly. It displayes the Wild West in a wilder than usual way, and the Man with no Name seems to carry his own sense of justice, unlike other westerns . ie he WILL play dirty ;)

    It's hard to define classic...
    Rear Window, 1954
    The Killers, 1946

If you like WWI aircrafts, The Blue Max and Aces High.
If you prefer submarine, don't miss Das Boot.

A bunch of good french and belgian production:
Le grand bleu (The big blue)
    Leon
Nikita (the original, not the US remake)
    2 movies with Albert Dupontel:
    Bernie
    Enfermés dehors (Locked Out)

    3 movies with Benoît Poelvoorde:
C'est arrivé près de chez vous (Man bites dog)
Narco (The Secret Adventures of Gustave Klopp)
    Podium

There are just so many incredible movies you should and have to see.

Here are some of the best I have ever seen, but there are MANY more:

    Citizen Cane
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
    Cape Fear
    China Town
    The Devil's Advocate
    Donnnie Brasco
The Merchant of Venice (Al Pacino version)
    Dog Day Afternoon
    Carlito's Way
The Night of the Living Dead
    The Shining (Jack Nicholson version)
The Bridge Over the River Kwai
    Bullet
    The Lavender Hill Mob
    The Great Escape
    2001: A Space Odyssey
    Casino
    Rosemary's Baby
    Mystic River
    Stand By Me
    The Hudsucker Proxy
    High Fidelity
    The Running Man
    Total Recall
    Double Indemnity
    Fist of Fury
    The Drunken Master
    Enter The Dragon
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the version with Donald Sutherland in)
    Don't Look Now
    Lawrence of Arabia
    Menace To Society
    Platoon
    Hamburger Hill
    The Unforgiven
    Tombstone
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
    Million Dollar Baby
    LA Confidential
    The Untouchables
    To Kill A Mocking Bird
Ocean's Eleven (The original movie, not the remake)
    The Italian Job
    Taxi Driver
    Spartacus
    Ben Hur
    The Goonies
Any Hitchcock movie but especially Psycho, Rear Window, Strangers on a Train, North by Northwest, Vertigo, Notorious
    A Street Car Named Desire
    About Schmidt
    Easy Rider
Apocalypse Now (Redux is best but a lot longer)
    Dirty Harry
    A Fistful of Dollars
    Clerks
    Schindler's List
    The Usual Suspects
    The Silence of the Lambs
    Casablanca
    Great Expectations
    Raging Bull
    Bladerunner

It all depends on what you like, but that list covers pretty much all genres. My best suggestion is that you go by eras, since each decade has a very definite stylistic distinction for the most part.

Taucias, you mention 2 out of 3 movies from the Dollars "loose" trilogy. Is the omission deliberate?

If you want to see them in order however..

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is first although shot last

then it's For a Fistful of dollars

and finally For a Few More Dollars

I know this, but 3 of the same base movie is a little too much IMO. The first two were the best.
