I know clone systems have been covered here before, but I had a few questions and couldn't dig up the old one so I figured I'd just make a new one. I have a nice little space in my entertainment center that a Retron 3 would look very nice in. From what I under the Retron 3 is the best clone system around it has a Genesis, NES and SNES slot and plays most of what you throw at it plus you can use all the old controllers for said system and get the Genesis in S-Video. SO besides asking if anyone has one. Does any one know if Everdrives and Retrousb's Flashcarts will work on this thing? any other quality clone systems out there? I don't mind getting actual hardware it's just I don't have room for an NES, SNES and Genesis in my current set up.
I recall KRIKzz saying it didn't like clones but I'm not sure. You'd be better off asking specifically in that forum. The PowerPAK also tends not to work on clones. But you'd need to ask someone that has actually tried it. You should avoid clones if you want maximum support/compatibility.
I know the pros and cons of clone systems. I'd just get an SNES/NES/ S video modded Genesis/mega drive if I had the room. But I don't I guess I will ask down in that forum section but in the meentime if anyone would like to chime in about clones and which have the best comparability Just leave it ere'
Megacart won't work, but both Sega and SNES Everdrive work with the RetroN3 along with the Super UFO. Noticed on mine all 3 SNES flash carts and any unlicensed or pirate SNES carts have this distortion to the audio, as if you have the volume up all the way and the speakers are about to blow. I don't really know if it's just my console or what, but I thought it was weird that regular carts work fine but only these oddball ones have audio problems.
Could be difference is power consumption or electronic noise. Try a power supply with more amperage, trying adding RF shielding to the cartridge or system.
I figured that might be the issue with the flash carts, but I wouldn't think it would be with the pirate/unlicensed games. Obviously there is some sort of technical issue happening because it is consistent. I don't have my Retro Duo hooked up at the moment, but I may try it also to see if it has the same results. I also noticed that the RetroN3 will not work with my Capcom GP Solder SNES pad.
As I've said the Retron 3 is a good option since it's 3 in 1 and I just don't have room for the remaining 2
If you are going for a cline due to space requirements, why not just throw in a pc and just emulate? Can get usb adapters to accept all the pads
