(edit) In response to this complaint, and any others I will dedicate this thread to solving any current issues people might have with transactions with myself.

    Hello,

I really did not want to have to post this here, but I truly feel that I am left with absolutely no choice. I do this as a last resort, and I apologize ahead of time for having to do so. I am hoping that the folks who post and read here can help me get in contact with Assemblergames to complete an auction deal I had with him. I did not want to post here, because I did not want to appear defamatory toward Kevin or damage his reputation otherwise, but to be quite blunt, he is not meeting his end of the bargain.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8232922560&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Back in November I won an auction from Assemblergames himself, and I am starting to get pretty darn worried. I know he's busy, but it's been over two months since the auction's end. It was for a Demovision GB unit and he never delivered. I live in NH, so I know the money to his state should not have taken longer than 3 days or so, but he only acknowledged that he received it on December 9th.

In fact, instead of me rewriting the whole history of the event, it's probably much easier just to show you this thread on the DP forum:

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77652

In reading the AG message boards for some time now (mostly a lurker, really), I haven't ever known Kevin to be anything but a standout guy, but I fear he is ruining his reputation somewhat (at least to some folks over at the DP board) by having acted as he has, as explained in the DP thread. I'm certainly reluctant to give anyone negative feedback for an auction, but I feel like I'm being left without a choice if delivery isn't made soon, not that there's a lot of feedbacks on his eBay account to begin with. He takes weeks to answer emails and seems to have stopped answering me altogether. His answers that he does send are very cryptic, and at least one was flat out false in its content, from what I've seen thus far. I do not believe I have been too pushy or unreasonable, and I only want the equipment I paid for. I also don't think it unreasonable to feel that I am being scammed and/or being taken advantage of. I've sent emails and PMs, and left a couple of phone messages, and it appears I am getting nowhere. The amount of time I waited for an item that takes at max 3 days to get to where I live is unreasonable and unfair.

Anyway, Kevin, if you are reading this, please refund my money or deliver the item. Your business behavior has been pretty unprofessional, and I really thought you were more trustworthy than this. Please complete your end of the bargain per the terms of the auction, and no hard feelings, seriously.

For anyone else reading this, if you know Kevin well and can get a hold of him, I humbly ask you to do so as a small favor.

Thank you all so much for any help you might offer. I really do very much appreciate it.

    Yours,

    Rob

Considering the auction clearly states that it came from the headquarters of a now defunct developer, i certanly hope that you get an original unit. If you're curious what i mean, check here:
    http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2871&highlight=gameboy

When the unit shows up, let me know, and i'll let you know how to tell the differance between an original unit and reproduction....

Not to worry, Kevin always comes through. A while back I bought a DVD off him. It didn't arrive, lost in the mail. He went out and bought a brand new copy of the same DVD and sent it to me, problably losing money in the process. A small example of how well he treats his buyers.

ProgrammingAce, I understand it is just an 8 pin ribbon cable soldered to certain parts of the board of the GB. Is this correct? If you wish, I'd like to hear about how to tell the difference now...I've wondered about this for a while, heh heh. Do you have pics of the inside of one of these units? Thanks for the link, btw.

Madhatter256, I already have the big clunky gray box for the Demovision, but I never had the modified GB to go with it. The auction is for the modified GB.

Hawanja, Yes, I've heard this, as some on the DP board stated. At the same time, I have spoken to threee people that say they got burned pretty badly by him.

Even if he is busy, going to the post office to meet your end of an agreement is not a problem for 99.9% of the other very busy ebayers I have dealt with in the past, and I don't think it should be for him. As many good deals as he's done, I feel I am not among them, so his past behavior with doing good deals doesn't really matter in regards to my particular case. I do feel as though I am being completely ignored and that's really no way to treat a customer. I had a lot of respect for Kevin before this auction, but I feel it is dwindling pretty fast.

I've had bad trades with him, and right now, he has a non paying bidder complaint against me. The auction ended, he waited a week to give me the final invoice (he didn't list shipping charges, so i had to wait). 5 days later, he filed a non paying bidder complaint against me. Since i had to pay by money order, i don't think 5 days was enough time for the MO to get to him. Now he hasn't responded to emails or PM's and i still have the complaint against me. He should have gotten the MO 2 weeks ago, and he won't tell me weather or not he's received it. It was a $6 computer case that he's charging me $25 for shipping... nice. On top of it, i thought i would add an extra $10 to help support the site, which brings my donation total to over $25.

This isn't the first time i've had issues either. The first time i bought something from him, I paid within 3 days and he still filed a non paying bidder complaint against me even after acknowledging he received the money, wtf? Then he took 4 weeks to ship it because his house flooded. Even then, he didn't bother to send the software that was promised in the auction. Emails and PM's asking for the software went unanswered. I know of several people who have had similar experiances, many of them have posted here... check the "Assembler, check your pm" thread. I'm not going to drag anyone else into this debate, they can speak for themselves.

    Is Kevin really a bad trader ? ? ?

Sorry , now I am very puzzled, but I think I know why, he isn´t around, but I don´t know if I am allowed to tell people, where he is.

Unfortunatly this is very true. I've only managed to ever get ahold of him twice. The first time was via e-mail, and it took him six month to reply (this is before I was a member of the boards). The second time was recently via aim (after several failed attempts through pm and aim). He's so hard to contact that I plain out believed after a while that he was avoiding me.

He may be a great guy, and he runs a very nice site/board, but due to the above mentioned problem I don't think i'd ever want to buy anything off him.

WolverineDK, I have already expressed that it is the furthest from my intentions to give him a bad name. It is the last thing in the world I want to do. While I didn't specifically say he is a bad trader, I will say I have had a bad trade with him. I am also saying others have too.

I will not under any circumstances say who the other three people are, as it was expressed to me in confidence. Say what you want about that, but I have a well-known reputation for being a very trustworthy guy, and I intend to keep it that way. I will not betray their confidences.

He may be your friend, but I had a bad deal with him. Since you are his friend, if you could, please ask him to right this if you have an easier way to get in contact with him. I would appreciate this very much. ;-)

    Hi Folks,

Just wanted to say that I just sent Kevin a PM about this thread, so that he doesn't think I'm trying to be sneaky. Also, it is, of course, just common courtesy to do so. 'd also like to hear what he has to say, if he'd like. Like I said, I really don't want to cause any defamation....I just want what I paid for.

One person doesn't have the gameboy I sent him. And how complex it gets
    overnight.

In response to this, I will state this. I try to keep my customers as happy as possible.

I do hundreds of transactions. Inevitably, there will be problems.
As with any business, not eveyone is happy.

If anyone has issue, bring it forth and I will deal with it NOW.

Please refer those people to me. Burned pretty badly is awfully stong language.
Please use facts and not "I have heard or people have said". I don't want anyone to feel that I "burned them".

One must provide sources to be respectable. Without a source, it is purely anonymous accusations. If they have issues, come forward. I will fix them.

I will stress this: I aim to please. Nothing goes perfectly and I will try my best to fix it. That is the level I operate on.

Regardless to the fact that it says your gameboy was left on your doorstep, I will refund your money. Once you have it, I would appreciate a post here to that fact, and I will consider the matter closed.

    You're the exception.

You know, the auction says you need to pay the shipping. It's a full tower case, and shipped fedex, the 30 pound oversize rate applies. If you can somehow find a way of shipping a full size pc case for under $20, be my guest.
Let's take a look at the people I have who haven't paid?

    Only you.

Guess what. I'm returning your money, and blocking you as a bidder. I don't need to deal with someone like you.

Too fucking late, I want nothing to do with you.

Hey, i'm not trying to cause an issue here... keep the cash, put it towards the site... forget about the case. It was $6 anyway. I apprechiate what you do for keeping this forum up. I'd honestly rather you take it as a donation then send it back.

EDIT: The money order is: 08964180224.

No, Assembler, this is not overnight. This is over two months, and until I informed you that I made this thread, there was ZERO movement from your side to complete this transaction or communicate with me in any meaningful way whatsoever.

What is NOW? Two months later? I had issues and I tried via email, PMs, and phone calls to correct this and you didn't even have the courtesy to call back. It was an 800 number at my work, for crying out loud! It wouldn't have costed you a dime! As soon as I made a thread and told you, you jumped on it. So obviously, you've been getting PMs, and just didn't reply.

Sure, Kevin, I will refer them to you. I will ask them to contact you. No problem. I will not, however, reveal them to the rest of the forum, as they asked me not to reveal their identities. Sound good? I must say though, one person is waiting for his goods more than a year later, and you have repeatedly promised to send it, according to him.

Kevin, you obviously have me confused with someone else or sent it to the wrong address. I will copy and paste what I wrote in the DP forum in response to a similar statement you made there. But first, what you wrote:

    And my reply:

If you can produce a tracking number that I can see was delivered here from you, then don't send my money back. Keep it, as the GB was obviously stolen from my doorstep, and that is not your fault. I'm not here to get something free, just my money or my product. Not both. So...how about that tracking number, hmm? You obviously have one to check that it arrived at my doorstep, so please cough it up so we can put this behind us.

Kevin, I almost forgot. It's your choice whether you send a money order, cash, or paypal. I only bring this up because my paypal account is fully functional again now, which is why I had to send a money order in the first place. If you choose to pay me back via paypal, just use the same email you have for me to do so.

Of course, the GB unit is prefereable to the money, but it's your call.

I'm going back to bed. You won't hear from me until sunday night as I still have a fever.

I consider the matter now closed. If you wish to complain further until you feel satisfied, please feel free to do so to this domo-kun.

I understand your pain, but you're one customer among many satisfied ones, and plainly put, shit happens.
