It's from so old Mega Drive promotion flyer. I don't have the original. This scan came from some Japanese gaming fan site a few years back. no idea what the site is though. A shame really because I remember it having some cool images.

Anyway, if I get time I'll see what I can pull off. It won't be anything near the original but it would be cool to see who could make a close replica. How about a contest? Rules should include full watermarking of the image mind you just to stop any temptations.

The pics are the real deal. At least they are like the Tetris that Mundocombo owns.

I remember him talking about all the copyrights on the cartridge sticker in his conference.

Well, the sig is on the plastic casing so you could always change the case over for a new one.

Why the hell did you write "This game was bought by me 4 years ago for 11.000 €", Mundocombo? Who in their right mind is going to offer even close to 1 Million USD when you've told them you only paid 11'000 Euros. Ithink you should edit that if you can.

"I bought this unopened bottle of Crystal Pepsi back in 1988 for $0.75."

Occasionally value appreciation does occur but your point is taken, not sure I'd want to offer $1mil for it if a known value was known at 11k EUR.

I'm no wizz at Spanish - but this part seemed interesting...

[From the link Wheela posted above]

"2º El número de serie que hacia gala el juego en su lomo G-4007, no está representado en el índice oficial de SEGA "16BIT". Evidentemente no se puede registrar un producto que por ley y orden judicial se exige su cancelación y destrucción inmediata. Por lo que en caso de existir unidades y saberlo SEGA a ciencia cierta, nunca lo podrian reconocer públicamente."

The quote seems to suggest that there is no official Sega catalogue number for this game (G-4007 - you can see it in the photos above) - I'm no expert, and I could understand a beta not having a serial number - but I find it hard to believe a game would be 'ready for factory pressing' without a number? That part makes zero sense to me.

um...erm... any experts care to explain why? :)

Also, another question - Sega Tetris and Half Life - both games ppl say exist in final stage of production (I think someone saw the Half Life box somewhere) Are there any other games that have had spectacularly low production numbers? I'm not talking limited edition releases - I mean 'average' games that never made it to more than, say, 20 or 30 copies in the wild, and then were recalled or canceled for one reason or another?

I'm 99.9999% sure Jaysmith2000 has not only a poster for Half-Life for the Dreamcast but a professionally printed manual and DC style case with all of the artwork professionally printed with every bit necessary for it to be put into a production run (logos, copyright info, etc).

    EDIT:
    And here it is:
    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10133&highlight=half-life

The real question is if any GD-ROMs were pressed OR if the glass masters had been made OR if the data has even been prepped to make a glass master. Being the only versions the internet has seen are GD-Rs and of the Katana and WinCE versions we only have the earlier, crappier WinCE version to play with its hard to say. Don't think Propeller Arena got quite as far as Half-Life did.

Kakuto Chojin was supposedly recalled for the XBox with some units getting into consumer hands. I purchased a copy recently from Jinn that was still in its shrinkwrap. I can find plenty of info on Google stating it was recalled but with a cursory search I cannot find anything from Microsoft. At the very least it seems that it is a very uncommon game to find in the wild.

"Rental only" titles exist as well such as Clayfighter 63 1/3rd: Sculptors Cut for the N64. There is a Flintstones title that just got dumped that is purported to be a rental only title with plenty of people counter claiming that there is 0 proof of this. The game itself can very rarely be found complete but the cart clearly is done with the official North American NES molds and labeling. The manual and box art all look production ready but only a handful of carts actually exist lending credence to the rental only hypothesis.

Sonic Adventure Limited Edition is an odd one I have yet to pin down myself (yes I know what you said about Limited Editions). Best I can tell it was "Limited Edition" initially as it was shipped to Hollywood Video in the US for use with rental Dreamcasts that were available well ahead of 09/09/99. However I personally saw the title screen with "Limited Edition" on it being played on a kiosk at a local Target back in early 1999. Most of the versions out there have Hollywood Video stickers slapped on the disc and very, very few have the case and manual which also says it is of "Limited Edition". I sincerely doubt it was intended to be a "Limited Edition" in terms of what a wide release of a "Limited Edition" would entail since, to the best of my knowledge, Sonic Adventure was never released to the public as a Limited Edition.

I'll see if I can dig any more up as I know a few others exist in this sort of limbo.

    Addendum:
    http://www.racketboy.com/retro/snkneo-geo/2011/06/the-rarest-and-most-valuable-neo-geo-games.html

Just about every Neo-Geo title is rare by most metrics but some of these have even lower production values and exist in a state of "I'd swear I saw it but not a shred of evidence exists that it was on store shelves".

Last I remember there's only four known euro Kizuna Encounter carts in the wild and around eight others rumoured to possibly belong to some other collectors out there. No one really knows exactly how many exist today, but the number is thought to be small. There's a few other euro AES titles like this.

Chase HQ II: Special Criminal Investigation for the Amstrad GX4000 seems to have been cancelled or recalled after going into final production. I think only two copies have turned up, the second one was only recently discovered in someone's attic and went for about £900.

I guess they're referring to it not appearing on Sega's official Mega Drive release list.

    http://sega.jp/archive/segahard/md/soft.html

Which is to be expected if it was recalled for legal reasons.

    G-4001 1988.11.27 Altered Beast
    G-4002 1988.10.29 Space Harrier II
    G-4003 1988.10.29 Super Thunder Blade
G-4004 1989.02.10 Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
    G-4005 1988.12.24 Osomatsu-kun Hachamecha Gekijou
    G-4006 1989.04.22 Super League
    G-4007
    G-4008
    G-4009 1989.07.29 World Cup Soccer
    G-4010 1989.10.21 Rambo III

    G-4008 is missing too.
