Even despite the one year head start, the Wii U hasn't exactly built up a great or even good library. The only exclusives worth buying are 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 and mayyybe Wonderful 101 (even though it suffers from some seriously bad design choices), Wind Waker HD if you don't have it on GC and Lego City Undercover. And honestly, even 3D World feels lazy compared to how impressive Galaxy was: it's pretty much just a home version of 3D Land with added characters, multiplayer and some tacked-on gamepad parts.
I've played demo versions of 3D World, and it doesn't feel right to me. Mario moves really slowly, compared to almost any other Mario game - even compared to 3D Land. If you hold the run button he moves at a more reasonable speed, but it feels really awkward to have to hold down the run button all the time. I don't know what their thinking behind that was.
I felt that way with the Wii U Mario game. It was like the game was made so that you had to run all the time and just was not comfortable to do.
Sorry, I was talking about New Super Mario Bros U. The game just wasn't fun to me and I never even bothered with New Super Luigi U.
Bumping this thread to recommend Counterspy for PS3/PS4/Vita. This is a brilliant downloadable game. I wish they had some kind of hard copy of it to be honest, the art style is so cool. Or even any promotional items. see more about the game here http://www.dynamighty.com/
I don't know why people think this point is debatable because ALL of us can rattle off games that no longer work because they needed a network authentication connection. In fact just a few months ago I found an old ipod touch that I forgot about with Star Wars: Imperial Academy on it. Guess what? As far as I can tell, it doesn't work anymore, it needs a THQ server connection.
Yeah, but you're conflating digital distribution and DRM. The game doesn't work anymore because of DRM (in the form of phoning home), not because you were able to download it from the app store. What you're describing can happen even with game bought off the shelf, and games that are DRM free can be enjoyed at anytime, even if you downloaded them.
