Don't try Oxycontin (sp? - I get all of the "oxys" mixed up). You'll feel great for a good five hours. The comedown is a bitch.
he he well i live only 20 minuttes away from me but since the government and the stupid police in Denmark are so against the dope called Hash (and i know it has a physco something that can make people fuckedup) i won´t call it a freetown but the place is a very cosy place i have been there since i was a kid because there is some great places to eat food there and it taste great.
Ahh chrstiania was great fun! loads of great smells and tastes there! Very impressive pieces of art from the residents too, in particularly the murals I saw I loved.
That's the current American medical trend for you, and not just prescriptions, either - how many people do you know that pop a Tylenol or Advil at the first sign of a headache or muscle stiffness? We've been trained to think that OTC or prescription drugs are the answer to all of our woes, and we've become a society that now can't fight off our own headaches because of our constant reliance on medication.
I actually hate taking headache medicine (or medicine of any kind, for that matter). I just took the Oxy to get all fudged up. It's stupid, I know, and I've since quit. It's no wonder I have a stronger tolerance to headaches than the rest of my family...
I haven't had a headache for almost a year. Why? Because of caffeine and water, thins the blood and caffeine relaxes the brain I think.
Maybe that's why I have my dumbest moments at work. A Pepsi everyday keeps the pain away (tends to rot the teeth, too).
Caffeine does anything but relax the brain... it's a stimulant - it accelerates heartrate and increases dehydration, two things which often cause headaches. If you drink water too you should be ok though.
Yeah, caffiene is a stimulant, but like Alchy said, enough hydrating liquids and you'll be fine. Oh, and pop and coffee are neither hydrating liquids - they'll dehydrate you worse than the caffiene itself. I hate taking headache medicine, or any general medicine, and have since I can ever remember. The reward for this perseverance is that on the rare occasions that a headache does form, it's gone within 15 minutes. I even pretty much have to be forced to take a Tylenol to get my fever down if I'm sick. The way I see it, the human body is capable of some pretty amazing things, but only if it's not tied down with outside dependences. More serious things, like strep throat for example, are a different matter - I'm willing to take prescription antibiotics for something that slowly dissolves your tonsils.
My mom always tries forcing me to take Tylenol or Advil, but I tend not to. A nap always works so much better.
