What did you like about Evangelion? Just asking.

  3. There are three titles by Manga Video that everyone needs to watch dubbed in English: Angel Cop, Mad Bull 34, and Violence Jack. Classic moments throughout.

Indeed, but this thread could never get maggot infested.

You are taking the piss, aren't you?

    For me it would be

Natsume Yuujinchou (as recommended by Assembler)
    Maison Ikkoku
    Urusei Yatsura
    Genshiken
    Azumanga Daioh
    Lucky Star
    Hidamari Sketch
    Card Captor Sakura
    Yawara
    My Neighbour Totoro
    Pom Poko

    For a start....

He must be.....or then again ......:fresh:

Hmm, some good titles in there.

Maison Ikkoku - Oh yes! Best anime of all time for laughs, sadness, storyline that is sort of believable and the ONLY anime I've EVER watched that had me saying "Go on you soft sod! Tell her you love her!" at the TV.

Urusei Yatsura - Again a wonderful classic although I found one or two of the movies a bit on the turd side.

Genshiken - No idea on this

Azumanga Daioh - Oh fuck yes! This is the one where the guy turns in to some sort of blue mutant killing machine, right?

Lucky Star - Not my cup of tea but have saw a few.

    Hidamari Sketch - No idea.

Card Captor Sakura - Eh??? You've got to be joking :110:

    Yawara - No idea

My Neighbour Totoro - Classic! Well worth a watch.

Pom Poko - Can't stand this myself to be honest. I found it rather annoying.

Hey, Card captor sakura is awesome. In fact I don't know why I didn't put it in my list, I used to watch it everyday.

The last few I really enjoyed were Death Note, Code Geass, and Black Lagoon.

Hey, I like the first season of Digimon.

Probably my favorite anime movie is Paprika. The story is meh, but the visuals and music are super awesome. I haven't seen hardly any series or anything like that.

What's wrong with Card Captor Sakura? I really enjoyed that show too. :icon_bigg

    Some of my other favorites:

Azumanga Daioh - High school comedy, not a killer blue robot (Maybe you're thinking of Guyver? Or maybe I missed a joke  )
    Bubblegum Crisis
    Fist of the North star
    Macross
    Excel Saga
    Serial experiments Lain
Ghost in the Shell (Movies + TV)
    Lupin III
    Heat Guy J
    Read or Die
    Slayers
    You're Under Arrest
    Dai-Guard

...and like Jamtex, that's just the start of it.

Ah, no. I must be mistaking the anime for another. The one I'm on about has a guy who turns in to this blue monster guy thing then kills a shit load of army guys. Very bloody.

Anyway, yeah, there are loads of great anime's. I myself own the following full sets on LD, VHS or DVD here or in my UK home.

    Masion Ikokku
    Bubblegum Crisis
    Bubble Gum Crash
    AD Police
    Dominion
    New Dominion
    Macross 7
    Macross Plus
    Macross the Movie (the original)
    Urusei Yatsura movies (all)
    Urusei yatsura TV shows
Ranma 1/2 (movies, TV and OVA)
    Tenchi Muyo
    City Hunter
Dangaioh (Not the wank western version by Manga Ent)
    Slayers Return
    Slayers
    Zillion
    Gundam Zeta
    You're Under Arest (Original series)
    Gun Smith Cats
    Mamerlade Boy
Video Girl Ai (for some reason I really got in to that show)
    Kimagure Orange Road
Shin Kimagure Orange Road (not as good as the original I think)
    Oh My Godess

and so on. These days I hardly ever watch anime so I know nothing of the stuff from 2000 onwards to be honest. I'm more of a 80' to 90's anime fan. Oh, and am I the only one who thinks Evangelion is a sack of shite?

i wish that they would have continued the rest of GTO's story instead of stopping halfway through the manga's story and making up an ending.

I have a bookcase full of Graphic Novels, most of it is manga. I'm so happy now that the mainstream companies are leaving translated manga in it's proper right-left format. I actually sold all my original Gunsmith Cats GNs to a friend and replaced them with the four new unflipped collected editions.

As for anime, I like Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, that sort of thing. Both series of Stand Alone Complex are incredible. The Patlabor movies are boring, tbh, but I really enjoy the TV/OVA series. Silent Mobius is well worth watching. Original Bubblegum Crisis is still fun to watch too.

Generally I'll watch anything decent involving spaceships, heavily armed mobile suits and cute gals ;) I do sometime go off on a tangent though: I feel like watching Record of Lodoss War.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I couldn't appreciate it much after I realized the whole thing was actually about the mother issues and difficulty with interpersonal relationships that characterizes postwar Japan.

Hmm, some of my favorite anime:
Captain Future (aka "Capitaine Flam" - the French dub was excellent)
    8 Man After (OVA)
    Rose of Versailles
    Slayers
The first half or so of Excel Saga before it got tedious
And in the "guilty pleasures" column, I've watched a quite substantial amount of DBZ, Saint Seiya, Naruto... I make no apologies for this
