I actually did something similar.... although the saturn has been there for a while and has rust near the bottom and very back.... although I got it for free.... no cords... no games...

 

An Xbox 1.1 (1 MB TSOP, yum! (can't believe that I just gave in to laziness and used "TSOP" as a term for the Xbox BIOS storage area btw)), complete with DVD remote and four controllers. Found it in the dumpster when I was throwing away some junk. I have no idea at all why that poor Xbox was thrown away by its previous owner, I just plugged it in, and since then it's been working flawlessly. Oh, and there was an original Timesplitters disc in the tray aswell

After softmodding the Xbox and soldering in a TSOP splitting switch, I built an AV -> VGA converter cable and flashed a VGA BIOS onto the Xbox. Now it serves mostly as a HTPC in my project corner/workshop, sharing a monitor with the computer I got there. Now and then when I need a break from whatever I'm working on I use it for gaming too, of course I've got it loaded up with all kinds of emulators.


By the way, if anyone happens to know how to get Ultra Bust-a-Move working on a VGA modded Xbox, please tell me! It's the only game I've tried so far that won't work, it just gives me a purple screen in VGA mode. The same installation works perfectly when connected to a TV with a component cable, though using another BIOS.

 

bit boring but probs the most useful thing i found. i found in a skip a dual core amd pc. basically mint its at that stage where its new enough to still be usable but still has backwards comparability to LPT, SERIAL, IDE. for nothing i cant argue

 

I bought a PS3 on ebay last week listed as used, not working. The way the person described it sounded like he just didn't know what he was doing with updating firmware so I decided to take a stab at getting a good deal on a PS3 system.

What I ended up getting was a phat PS3 that just had corrupt firmware on the harddrive. After downloading the latest update and installing it, the PS3 was perfectly fine. To make things better: it came with a 500GB WD hard drive (vs. the 80GB stock), and brand new accessories. New accessories because the seller bought a new PS3 to replace this one and gave me all of those new accessories (controller, video cable, usb cable, etc.).

Oh yeah, I paid $120 after shipping. Not bad if you ask me!

 

Wow really? That is an awesome deal Cobra! A 500GB PS3! Damn, makes my 120GB First gen 360 Elite feel puny in comparison. Oh well, I still haven't maxed that thing out in the 4 or so years Ive had it.

I am about to trade my MGS PSP 3001 to a friend for a fully modded Original Xbox with TSOP mod and a 250GB HDD in it with emulators and stuff. This is going to be my first hard modded system, as the only thing I ever really hacked myself was the PSP I am trading him.

Not a bad deal, I have gotten my use out of the PSP, and even though they are kinda rare, I feel like I will have more fun with the Xbox than I ever did with the PSP. I just don;t do portable gaming as much as I used too sadly.

 

I love my original PSP-1000 just because I use it to play all my NES, SNES, Sega, N64, etc. games (well, not so much N64 since the emulator isn't quite full speed).

I still pull it out every once in a while. I've never owned an original Xbox though (let alone modded) so that would be pretty cool!

 

The favorite item I have found is actually a recent buy. A few years ago I scored a Toshiba 14" CRT with Component and S-Video in. Its super light and I use it as a Tate display. I simply love this thing. What is unique is that I managed to score one brand new in box never used.

I purchased my entire set up (Monitor, Breadbox-model C64, and 1541-II DD) for a total of $25 USD.

Still runs perfect to this day!

 

golden axe 3 bootleg for the mega drive. that game came out only in japan and i found it in a flea market, converted to pal, for about 20 euro cents.

 

Does anyone know how rare the Sega Multi Mega is? I've never even heard of them before, one's come up with X1 controller, X1 power, X1 A/V, X1 Manual and X1 game - all unboxed. Seller says it plays PAL games and Japanese carts - not sure what this is all about... He's asking quite a lot (USD $240) but again, I've never even heard of them before, don't know whether I'll ever see another!?!

 

The thing I found that I thought was the most memorable was when my dad found a perfectly working Intellevision system at the dump and gave it to me. However, I sold it for $80 but still a pretty good investment since I got it for free

 

My favorite item I ever found is definitely a POP STATION! JUST joking, no my real favorite is the first Bandai pippin I ever found, the people at the swap meet thought it was cd player! Now I have 6 Pippins.

 

best swap meet find was a good condition Boxed Dreamcast with 5 games for $15

 

My favorite thing I found was a NPDP GBOX with NPDP cart. Gamecube dev is my favorite dev hardware. The cart has 3 Sonic prototypes on it, and Sonic is my all time favorite gaming franchise. Needless to say, that set is my holy grail.

 

I think I enjoy my iMac out of everything I've got. Bought it second hand off Craigslist- some guy needed to sell it as soon as he could because he had an emergency move back to some country.
Whelp, $1300 for a $2700 iMac was a steal.

for me it would probably be the collectors edition box of persona for psp. This because it wasn't released in europe, and it's pretty much the only import game i've ever seen sold in a store here anyway...
also the way i got it is what makes me remember it...
i remember standing there and being like "awww,i want the game, but the price is a bit steep" (i think it was 59euros then or something silly high anyway) and tried to bargain with the guy who was more interested of selling me a second hand psp1000 instead of the game i looked at.

I think he kept saying that he'll sell the psp for 90€ and i kept trying to get a 10 or 20 off the game's price, and at some point he made me an offer that if i buy the psp, he'll sell me the game for xx euros, and smart as i am (and massively failing at math here) i told him that it's too expensive and made a counter offer of xx + xx euros which ended up being 10 euros more than his offer. (sorry for xx's but i really don't remember the prices anymore )

we laughed a good bit to that when we realized it, and obviously i ended up buying both

said psp still sits on 3. something firmware and serves me more as a memento of that shop (R.I.P.) than a console i use, and the game i never used either...

Probably my Rev.1 NTSC-U Dreamcast. Being a European and all, it just feels much nicer having an American system. I never put so much effort into buying a system before - considering I had to buy a stepdown transformer that I searched high and low locally for, one of those alien two-prong plugs you guys use that came from Hong Kong, funnily enough. A brand new boxed controller, boxed VMU - and burning myself a slew of games. Only for the machine to arrive about a month after purchase. I was worried since the buyer had no way of testing the unit other than powering it on - there could have been anything wrong with it, but fortunately she booted up just fine on the first try.

Yeah, I love my Dreamcast. <3

Mine was the same but for GBA SP, found it in a puddle with Crash 2 in it, got it home put the hairdrier on it,
bought a battery charger for it and the console worked!

At the time the console and game were worth around £100


Oh and I also found saints row 3 on PC 6months after it came out for £1.00

the guy who sold it to me was like ''pc games are worth £1 right?''

i had to make up some weird conversation piece without him questioning any further,
