When WiiWare was announced sometime years back I didn't think anything exciting would come out for it.

Flash forward to it's release and now we have

    Dr. Mario RX
    Megaman 9
    Bit Trip Beat
    Bit Trip Core
    Bit Trip Void
    Contra Rebirth
    Gradius Rebirth

Soon Megaman 10, Castlevania Rebirth, the other 3 bit trip series, Cave Story.

The list of titles is much smaller than XBL or PSN, so what from WiiWare HAVE you downloaded?

Isn't that Virtual Console and not WiiWare?

BitTrip is awesome. Also enjoyed a bit of Art Style: Cubello. That's quite a good game to chill with.

I liked Lost Winds, it was one of the first WiiWare titles I downloaded.

Is the new Excitebike good? I'll be sure to check it out when I get some spare money.

I for some reason have set a rule for my XBL and Wii purchases "No games you can own physically"

So I've never bought a game on the virtual console and only a few XBL ports since they add enough features to justify it (such as Doom or street fighter 2 hyper fighting, and Street fighter 2 HD remix I consider a new varient of SF2)

And Mega Man 9 WAS on XBLA and PSN (as 10 will likely be as well)

Excitebike is great because it's true to its NES original.

This version offers 2 visual perspectives, 3/4 and the classic side view.

It has a very good tutorial and good indications of when you do something right (i.e a good landing after a jump, etc) and the menus are reminiscent of ExciteTruck/Bots, using the usual SABCD ranking system. I found the time-based challenges adequate to keep me busy for long, however if you ever feel you're really good you can test your skills online.

I got my ass handed to me despite being a good player, because of 2 mistakes. I came last because of 2 mistakes!

It's oldschool at its best and the graphics do their job at a satisfactory level. They aren't anything special though, neither in terms of geometry, effects nor overall feeling. They are purely functional but it's ok, it's a 2D game at heart.

Alien Crush Returns is fun for a little while.

Personally I think Contra and the other reboots are pretty lame (haven't tried Excitebike though). I'm looking forward to any originalish games by classic third parties, and I guess La-Mulana.

No one said it wasn't - though if you want to nitpick in Japan it's Wii exclusive. and it came out on Wii before the other consoles.

But no one said it didn't come out on the other consoles, but really you want to play Megaman with the 360's Dpad? lol that's like putting vasiline on a DDR Pad before playing

I prefer the analog stick to d-pad, the only case that I use the Dpad is DOA4 and Tekken 6.

But really if that's my perference....

I really liked Contra rebirth, and castlevania rebirth looks amazing IMO.

I have yet to win at Dr Mario RX. These Japanese players haven't played a game except Dr Mario on a regular (and obsessive) basis since 1990 I don't think.
