    Hello,

I create a new thread to help repairing the defects Wii Remotes.

    The story (short version) :

Since many years now I take part on organize consoles LAN based. Recently we have many demand for Mario Kart Wii at 12 players. A lot of fun thanks to AltWFC for that. Unfortunately when you have a big stock of console and its accessories you meet some hardware issues. For Wii, no problem, issues are easy to track and repair. However for the wiimote it's another story. Many of our Wii remote are plagged by a lot of differents sames issues there is not documented on Web.

I know there is a bunch of Wii remote on the market to replace a defect one. But it's not a reason to trash a device who can easyly repaired with the right advice.

The purpose of this topic is to discribe these issue, its symptoms and the fix if someone knows. Let's start :

    On RVL-003

symptoms : no pointer / hand on screen, Wiimote buttons works.
issue : maybe a problem with Wiimote's IR reciever or related component with it.
origin : bad solder contact, inductors who goes bad, or IR reciever who not powered properly
    fix : ?

symptoms : Wiimote drain batteries excessively, light intensity of the blues LEDs is low, even with news batteries.
issue : we saw this issue many time and never found its origin. Maybe a problem on power control level
    fix : ?

symptoms : Wiimote sync with the console but only buttons works. No pointer and nothing works on connector (Nunchuk, Wii Motion Plus...).
issue : may a global problem to supply power to others components ?
origin : bad solder contact, bad inductors, bad capacitors...
    fix : need a complete reflow ?

symptoms : Wiimote seems to be in good working order, but not syncing with the console.
issue : defect Bluetooth part ?
    fix : ?

That all for this post. If you have fix or somme others issues, post it here and I update the first post.

On your last one - not syncing with the console.

Double check that none of the remotes synces with the console.
It should be the bleutooth inside of the console.

Ah, forgot to say that you must take in consideration all issues listed above concerns only Wiimote not console or peripherals. They were tested before.

Bluetooth module in the console failing or corrupt eeprom results in console not booting.

Ive not had a failed BT module that's allowed the console to boot, but wii motes not work.

i bought a WII once and when i connected a Nunchuck with the WIImote it wouldn't work. So eyeballing the WIImote connector i noticed corrosion , so i opened up the WIImote and desoldered the connector and placed it in a Vinegar Lemon Juice bath.

problem solved and got a discount for a defective WIImote
