Good lord! Those are beautiful GaijinPunch, can I be really rude and ask you where you got them from? (Yahoo?) This summer I have devoted a whole day to doujinshi shopping in DenDen so I'm looking to grab some Cave (and now some Can't hue) doujin. I love this kind of stuff, infact I'm putting together a website at the moment featuring some of the Doujin and art works (mostly RPG stuff) that I have picked up over the years.
Yeah, got 'em from Yahoo. Easier to find than the Cave stuff. The only Cave things I've been able to get are recent. Alchemista and Ningen are both recent books. Alchemista was going for a lot after Comiket, but then it saw a reprint I believe. Ningen has never been unattainable, but you will most likely not find the post card set, which is pretty cool I must add. Older Cave doujinshi? Forget about it. An ESPRade popped up on Yahoo not long ago. I figured I'd swoop in and nab it for at worst, double the starting price of 10,000 yen. Twopeople got in a bidding war above me and it ended at 35,000 yen. You can check Mandarake, but they looked at me like I was white or something when I threw out some titles of the Cave ones.
Yeah, from the sounds of things I am probably better off going to actual shops in Japan. Don't want to challenge you to a bidding war now do I?(!) And yeah Mandarake is run by idiots, they very rarely know the stock. + these days it seems like they only stock BL and H. There is a great place in Den Den opposite the dragon cafe (fking dodgy place!) that has a "no-eros" corner. So all non-h hentai are in one place and they are mostly gaming related. There is also a retro Doujin place on a side-street with the Moe-cafe (why are all my landmarks dodgy?), they had some of the early Variable Geo doujinshi going for 10000 a shot. So I will be visiting them and hopefully I won't get hurt too much for some Cave stuff, I do love Cave so I would probably spend 10000 yen for something nice. But 35000 yen , that is crazy. I could almost get myself a top notch supergun for that, or half a PS3! I have been collecting non-h Guilty Gear for ages and I have already seen a couple of them hit the nasty 20000 yen mark already. Fun stuff to collect though.
