I happen to own a copy of this sucker for Mac. Took me the longest time to hunt it down, but naturally, I don't have a Mac. ^_^; I suppose I could always check into the state of PPC emulation sometime, see if I can find a torrent (my prized copy is long-since boxed away somewhere)...but it occurred to me there might be another way.

Pegasus Prime was released for Mac in the U.S. and got a Japan-only PS1 release. Does anybody know if an unreleased English PS1 version ever existed, just for my curiosity's sake?

It requires System 7. You should be able to emulate it easily, and it's far less expensive than hunting down a possible english ps1 release.

Not seen anything about an English/International PS1 release.
Have yet to see an actual copy of the PS1 version at all (or even figure out what it was called, what its catalog number is, etc... anything to verify it actually making it all the way to retail at all)

If it truly does exist, it is without doubt a solid contestant for the "hardest to get a retail copy of" awards.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find the software I need, but I do have one question: which Mac emulator is the best?

EDIT: On an important note, it also appears to require a PowerPC. And I'm stumped trying to find an emulator that supports both System 7 and PPC.

You'll want to use Pear PC, a power pc emulator that can emulate OS X and earlier ppc OSes.

Its been awhile since I've used PearPC (I've since got a mac powerbook) but it is an immense resource hog, so you'll need a very fast computer. Also it takes some time to set up. You need to make an ISO of the OS install disk and edit the config file to have the emulator took for that ISO in a virtual drive cd drive. You'll also need to download a virtual harddrive file that is only a few 100k but expands to 2gb when you unrar it.

It is a cool program though and it was fun to show off running OS X in an XP window.

Umm...with the exception of extremely early macs, all macs used Power PC processors up until the intel switch. If it emulates System 7, you are good.

    Um...no.

At the bottom of this page it says there's no sound emulation. Why the hell would I want to play an FMV-heavy game like The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime without sound?

SheepShaver seems to be my best option right now, though it seems like the only way I can get it to close is by going to Processes under CTRL+ALT+DEL (though if anyone knows the magical key sequence that's supposed to kill the program, I'm all ears; closing the window doesn't work, and I've tried all the usual button combinations). I've got it to the point where it tries to boot and gives me the question mark disc icon; problem is, I can't find a System 7.5 install disc ISO. I can get System 7.5.3 as a split-up archive off of Apple's site; problem is, I need a Mac in the first place to put it all together. Any help?
