So I watched this video, but I can't confirm that it's 100% true because classicgameroom.com is not working right now. It's very sad to see such a veteran of the Youtube gaming scene leaving ( Although it isn't mentioned that he's leaving, just heavily changing the schedule, but CGR Undertow is not going to be made anymore) It's so sad to see that his channel had declined over the years, not in terms of quality, but in terms of views. And views are what keep the show alive with the help of a fanbase. So what's your take on this ? What's your favorite moment from CGR ? Mine would be the review of Forza 3, Seaman and GTA IV.
It's reviewtechusa. it's click bait. the real news about what's going on with CGR is going to be discussed tomorrow https://twitter.com/ClassicGameRoom/status/661913640971423745
Well that sucks. I loved their reviews, especially when it was of my own games. They still have the best review I could imagine for one of the most niche games I made:
CGR isn't ending: Greetings from the Intergalactic Space Arcade. There’s many changes upon us. The Classic Game Room web store, and many of the interactive features on our website will be closing by the end of the year. With the closing of our web store, it’s unlikely that we’ll re-order t-shirts, DVDs or beer mugs when they sell out. We may not even sell them next year. If you’ve had your eyes on CGR or Undertow DVDs and gear, now is the time to get them. CGR Undertow will cease production by the end of the year. Thank you to all of the fans who have supported Undertow and the creators of the show. I’ve witnessed many smiles when positive comments come in, or a box of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrives at the door! I’m going to be entering another phase of my life soon and will be concentrating on my writing, art and another career outside of the gaming industry. I plan to continue CGR as a hobby. The show originally started as a hobby, so in a way it will be returning to its roots. I certainly have enough games to keep me busy! Thank you for being the best fans in the universe. I’ve always enjoyed that CGR has been appreciated for a being a positive review show. We’re happy that our films and products have been well received. Please give a round of applause for the amazing CGR Team who has worked hard behind the scenes to keep this crazy train rolling. Personally, I think we’ve done the best job shipping products in the galaxy! You wouldn’t believe the work that goes into carefully packing things and dropping them from orbit! There will be a new production schedule next year, I’m not sure what form it will take yet or where the shows will be. Please continue to follow, and once again, thank you. Mark
I like it how the two guys above you only read the thread title of the thread. Thanks for clearing up the facts, CGR is my favourite game review channel.
Link your channel, hexi. I like cgr for the humour, the intro music, his honest and mainly free of fanboyism videos
Don't make assumptions. I read the announcement and the thread over at CGR. My statement still stands, as they reviewed my games through Undertow, which WILL be discontinued. Also, for most things, once something goes from hobby to job and back to hobby, it will never be the same again.
Small Man Youtube is gone. It has been for a while. A few years back I would get hundreds of views within a day and at one point hit 2K the first day. Something about the subscription system means that videos don't show in peoples dashboard reliably. As a result numerous series went down the pan. CGR will have been hit by declining viewership. The Microwave Show did it's most successful season ever then viewership on the final dropped off and more promotion through Social Media was required, so The Microwave Show just stopped because it wasn't profitable anymore. I want to start making build logs for my project but I don't even know if its worth the effort to shoot the video and edit it if the viewership is going to be shit.
I think you're definitely on to something. From the sounds of it you're talking about the fullsize pc website and how subscriptions are handled there. Whichever the case, this is something that has been bugging me for some time now. The problem that I experience is that I'm subscribed to alot of channels (30-40), and I like watching the content that all of them they produce. There are no channels in there that I don't like. Most people use their smartphones for youtube, including me. But, even on a 1080p smartphone you only get only 3 visible videos in your youtube feed at any given moment. This is completely ridiculous and a real problem, what's more ridiculous is that you can't even change the view* to list mode, or smaller thumbnails. So if you have, say, 35 active subscriptions it may take a while to scroll through just a day's worth of videos and alot of the time you just end up not doing it. You end up missing a lot of the videos your subscriptions post. ( * = hinting that youtube: a) knows and wants this to happen or less likely b) don't care )
