I m playing the PS3 trial version. I dare to say that the controller is not bad at all for the job - ever more than the Wii remote I might add considering the larger D-pad and buttons

I've carved out my 360 pad and it's still shit. I need a decent d-pad. To be honest I don't rate the dualshock d-pad that much, but anything's better than the horrific 360 pad. The lack of converters seen for all other platforms is kind of odd.

Well, I wasn't going to sand it, I was going to try the "sticking plastic under the pad" variant. Is that still crap? I noticed Saturn pads have the same type of thing under there dpad, so I figured it would help with the 360.

The wii's D-pad is an improvement over the GC's but nowhere near even the N64 levels (Which I found very nice). Of course the king of D-pads is none other than the Saturn Pad!

I liked that one a lot more than the smaller one they released.

N64? Xbox Duke? Those are both right up there with the Jaguar's d-pad as some of the worst first-party d-pads in history. I thought everyone was in agreement on that...

Is there any actually affordable/cheap PS2 to 360 adapter? With the money it costs for that thing I might as well just spend some more and buy a PS3. Now if there were an adapter for 10 to 30 bucks that would be ok.

Maybe so, but it doesnt change the fact that i prefer the duke to the smaller revision MS released later on. That controller and my big hands definately did not mix well together:icon_bigg

I've never liked Nintendo's dpads much, but they work. I remember the N64 barely letting you use it though.

The Xbox Dukes Dpad isn't bad at all. Yeah, it's wierd looking, and the whole controller puts off most people, but I use to use that for fighting games and loved it.

I don't know if the American pads were different from the UK ones, but I'd never in hell play Street Fighter with that d-pad.

Another contender for worst d-pad: the PSP. A friend of mine has Street Fighter Alpha or somesuch on his, and trying to pull fireballs with Ryu was a fucking joke. I've been meaning to get around to sorting the d-pad in mine with one of the aftermarket mods, but it doesn't really see enough action for it to be worthwhile.

I did play Street fighter with it, and DOA, MK, SC, etc. It worked great for me. Your mileage may vary. =) It was nice because it was like a big circle and you just roll your thumb on it. I dunno, I liked it.

Yeah, PSP's dpad is suckage. It really is bad.

Yeah, I tried playing some Killer Instinct on there a while ago and realized that it was just not cut out for fighters, other than MK where all the moves are taps instead of rolls.
