If the 64 DD is obscure, well then this is the obscure part of it!! Im referring to the retail DD production machine obviously. Has anyone any clue / hint / idea / theory about this obscure and "untalked about" topic?
Well I doubt the 64dd factory machine is still around. They were probably programmed before being put into the shell. I would expect it looks like a high speed 1.44 formatter.
^^^ What he said. If I remember correctly, only some parts of the disk are writable. Only dev blue disk are fully writable.
I'm talking about production at the factory, It's not like it's a cd and they press them... I thought he was talking about production machines, not a game copier.
How is this achived? Some kind of protection in the retail DDs firmware? Isn't the discs just a magnetic disk, if so wouldn't it be possible to re-write the full disc if the DD was programmed to do so?
Assembler, could I please have a picture of a mass-floppy writer? I m really curious, and kammedo was kind enough to post our curiosity, stemming from a discussion we had.
It's just a giant automated machine, like they used for making aol disks. Sort of like old school CDR copy or cd printing. I would imagine the DD maker would look the same.
Personaly I would love to get my hands on the store units used to write to Famicom disk (the yellow things).
