Ok, this has been bugging me for a while. The very beginning of the song "The Night Chicago Died" sounds SO much like a song I remember in a game. I want to say Earthbound on SNES (Which makes sense, they used parts from other popular songs). But, I can't for the life of me find that song. I have the Earthbound soundtrack and I still can't find it. The song in question: Am I remembering correctly or am I just crazy?
idk it kinda sounds like this to me but definitely not it. The song sounds super similar super earthboundish
Do we have a thread for videogame music that uses sampled/stolen parts of non-game songs? I was listening to a track from Doom 3DO the other day and realised they directly ripped off the guitar solo from Foreigner's Juke Box Hero.
Only one of Doom's tracks reminds you of something else? Uhm... And we do have a thread for stolen artwork somewhere, but not music, afaik. But back on topic - for me, that Chicago song does not ring any bells.
No no, not reminds, it's a note-for-note copy. And it's not something that shows up in any other version of Doom, it's exclusive to the 3DO version. It wouldn't even sound that odd if you were to replace the section of the song with the Doom 3DO one.
I Sawed The Demons, at around 1:20: Here's the same section in Juke Box hero, at 3:19: Juke Box Hero has it all in a bit of a higher pitch, but the similarity was striking enough for me to recognise it instantly (it's one of my top 5 favourite songs ). Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread so much @speedyink!
You're right, this part of the Redbook track is a lot closer to Juke Box Hero than AC/DC's Big Gun. The MIDI one, not so much.
Yeah, the MIDI one doesn't have that solo part, it's completely different strangely enough. Later I'm going to place the 3DO section into Juke Box Hero and vice versa, just for kicks.
