Hey guys and girls. The original dev of PC shooter Postal is appealing for an indie Dreamcast developer to port their game to the Dreamcast after releasing the source code: http://www.thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk/2016/12/pc-mac-shooter-postal-now-open-source.html
Same name, vastly different games. Both fun. Paradise Lost was pretty good too (unless you're a graphics ho that can't look past the old engine). Too bad there never was a Postal III (ifyouknowwhatimean), but if there was I'd hope it weren't as linear as it turned out to be. At least they later patched in a free roaming mode of sorts. Is Redux worth a buy? Opinions?
I mean, Redux is on Steam if you want to get it for cheap, it's a meh shooter, but then again I'm not the biggest shooter fan (realizes I just pre-ordered Strumwind for the DC).
RWS is a very cool developer and close to their fans, also, not SJW. I think so, but I bet it would be downgraded in terms of crowd quantity. Quite weird considering that the original Postal was a very dark game, while it's sequel is a black comedy one. Postal III was a shitty unfinished product that Akella stole (Which is why is on steam), the developers even encourage you to pirate it as they decided to remove from their RWS store. Paradise Lost was a great expansion pack for a price of a half ass DLC.
Buy the game (or even just find a demo) and take the resources from there? Same as with pretty much all other retail game source code drops I can think of.
Yeah, 1 is a pretty dark game. Entertaining from a gameplay perspective but it is a bit grim. 2 was a much better and more open game. As much as I understand why 3 is bad, I still had fun with the game. It's not good by any stretch, but it entertained me for long enough where I wasn't heavily disappointed. I'm excited to see what comes of this. I'd play through it again. Smoking indoors. Rebel.
