Found an interesting article online about Sonic Crackers. It's about the author's quest to track down the source of this prototype. He sheds a lot of light on the more obscure details about the game's origins and who may have gotten these protos in circulation (at least 10 are out there according to this article). The Origins of Sonic Crackers Article is also below for those that don't want to click the link.
I forgot about that article! That's actually my Sonic Crackers cart he references in it...also forgot I had that too must take it out of storage again sometime.
drx said the protos didnt come from him. Clint sold all his protos 4 or 5 years before he entered the scene.
I can't stress this enough, but Clint is NOT the source of that. Clint was around before my time. I see how you could interpret the article this way, so I will contact Mike to correct that part of the article to hopefully clear up the misunderstanding.
Definitely a good read, thanks for posting. I remember playing with this prototype rom in the early-mid 2000's, it's really cool to hear the story!
This isn't about Clint in particular, but it is a somewhat amusing look at how the testing department at Sega of America worked (and depicts how they'd receive prototype builds digitally and burn them to EPROMs):
Interesting read, that one. Certain I've seen Sonic crackers referenced as "sonic the Hedgehog 4" somewhere before, as well.
