The pads and shell for the console actually exist. Or at least one prototype does. As for the innards, well, who knows?
Oddly enough, pretty much everything the Phantom promised is available as part of XBLA. As I said back then, it wasn't that the Phantom was a bad idea. It was just that the Phantom was before its time. -hl718
just like everything else like it that fails... like the dreamcast... it sucks to see these things that are great ideas die.. turn into vaporware, etc
XD hahahha very funny one XD.. but imho it was indeed a bit sexy. Lol maybe a bit aggressive in shape too. It reminded me of a viking ship even though it doesnt bare any resemblance to it XD.
Do you guys remember the 1st version of the Phantom? that was F*ing ugly! Looked like a mutant XBox. Yakumo
the sad thing is when they were getting ready to take preorders for that thing. I was highly considering it.
As far as I know there were only mockups of Phantom consoles. The one on the picture apparently has hardware inside, the last time I saw it on a fair however (must have been 2005 or so), it was just an empty case to show off. The actual demonstration of Phantom soft was supported by a tower PC under the table with an original Phantom keyboard connected. I can have a look for a picture of this setup if anybody's interested.
Was that the picture of someone playing an FPS that was supposidly on the Phantom or that was meant to illustrate it cause i remember seeing a photo like that.
It's not a mockup. I've seen it first hand here when they were looking for investors (which is a good thing no one supported it). It was real. It had outlets in the back and wires hooked up to it. They only had a video play, no actual demo, but it was comparable to a GeForce3/low-end Geforce4 GPU and had a P4 CPU (not a prescott, definitely a cheaper one).
