Hey all. I wanted you to look at what we have, which is a FULL English translation pack (a first of others to come) which is HIGHLY detailed..with storyboarded screenshots!! Also has dev. notes/ Link stage script etc. You MUST see this! It would be good for you all to look at....& keep =) We have a lot more planned for the near future too. Go to the site below & it will tell you where to go from there.

thanks again, & give us some feedback on the thread here if you feel the need to about the first pack DL.

is there any way to use this pack to patch raident silvergun?

NO WAY. There aren't any text blocks/subtitles in the game, so there wouldn't be a way to re-insert any text.

saturn games can get subtitles to display, if anything you ciould hard code them but youd have to distreo them on a foreign torrent.

Same way you patch any game. In a nuthsell. Rip the game, sift through the files to find out where the text blocks are stored, write a patch that will replace the Japaense text blocks with English ones, desitrbute the patch -- which is 1000% legal mind you. No torrent necessary.

    Problems:
-Hard as shit to find the text blocks in some games.
-They're often compressed... hard to do anything with them once you find them
-They use double-byte characters, and there's no single-byte font in the game to use. This means each japaense sentence is limited to about half the roman characters you need to make a sentence. Otherwise, you have to be a pretty creative hacker to make it liveable.
-You can only play the game on a modded Saturn, emulator, or using the swap trick

thus my idea for hard coding. Observe this dreamcast game:

as you can see, I hard coded that text, but I could also have changed the games internal subtitling feature. I chose to hard code because the re-encodes I made of the movies were smaller, less noisy, and color coded for each voice. That left me wiht more options for higher quality dubs, or to use higher quality sound samples when downsampling the music : ). Movies can easily be made to display text on a saturn IIRC, Though Gavi is much more up to speed on saturn hacking than I. Good luck! Great job with the resources too! Perhaps it will inspire some hacker to insert the text for you and then have the ingame samples handle that. What GaijinPunch mentioned about dual byte encoding is correct for most new games, sometimes you get lucky enough to have a standard in agmes (except konamis.... EVIL). Most of the time though, text is stored with A-Z in the correct order so you can search for some text that way and use a wildcard between each character when relative searching. Should make the load lighter on you if you can find some english text with the same font. If not, try a kana relative search... I would never look for kanji while Relative searching since games cna make their own tables for that.

P.S. Heres the full text to the romanized purge song :p (ITS SINGABLE!)

thats cool, but like I said..Radiant Silvergun has no text blocks or subtitles, so I don't think it can be done. Unless you mean actually ADDING them with that hardcode method.

you can hack the executable to display subtitles or if you are dubious, even dub it. Sega uses some pretty well known audio formats. So documentation shouldnt be an issue. But liek I said, saturn games should I belive have anm easy method of adding subtitles to movies alone : ). I can do some research for you if youd like.

the friend I spoke misunderstood my question, however you might check out revolve translations (same host as yourself) and look for one of their hackers. One of them is ESPECIALLY good with saturn things. I can tell you this, if anyone can do it, he can. Plus since RSG is such a popular game, and I dont want to speak for him, but im sure hed be excited to help. If not Ill continue individual research. I can still hard code the FMV subtitles for you, if you want, but going in game will take quite a bit to do, and is probably beyond me, thats why I highly recommend him. Goodluck and keep us posted!
