i know i don't post much, but, some of y'all old-timers may remember the weird X'eye I came up, that has been modded to be a dev unit: ..still with the inventory tag and everything! [mods: pls let me know if that tag's a problem, pretty sure DP is long-dead] this X'Eye came with a burned dev/beta cd: and in reading that label, i thought, "OMG beta of MAD DOG MCREE 32x!!! BEST GAME EVAR!!!!" yeah, so.. didn't have a 32x at the time, and as such the game wouldn't boot (or at least, i hoped that's why it wasn't booting) well, last week i scored a genesis 2/sega cd/32x at the flea market for a grand total of around $30, and of course the first thing i did was see if this disc would boot.. and it did! however, turns out it's not mad dog mcree at all, it's actually a dev burn of the mad dog level of Scotty Pippen's Slam City! (this isnt a grab from my actual disc, tho it is the right level) the most immediate difference is there's timecode running at the bottom of the screen at all times, and while the menus seem complete, the game crashes upon entering certain modes or levels. i haven't explored it too far because, like most all FMV games, it really really sucks. I'd like to take some screencaps (or maybe even a movie), still working out the best way to manage that.
Biggest disappointment ever then? You lose out on an awesome game and get a barely working version of a terrible game. Nice buy on the Sega stuff though.
Mad Dog Mcree was amusing to say the least. My college has the arcade version in the cafeteria. Would you mind taking pictures of the inside?
i'm not gonna open it up, sorry, but for starters.. as you can see in the pic, it's had a hole cut into the face so that the processor can be socketed externally... i've been told that's to accomodate a hardware debugger that sits between the proc and the socket; beyond that i don't know too much.
is it possible this also allows the bios to be universal? Is it possible to play mega cd games on it?
