For me I am afraid its becoming far more important to owning/collect games than actually playing them , I think this is mainly due to the fact that I actually work for and manage a game store, working all day with games, and coming back home just to play them doesn't feel right, especially current gen games. I really like collecting simply because there isnt many retro or older games here in circulation, nothing beats the treasure hunts I do on weekends going from shop to shop, then getting rewarding with actually finding something that you wanted ,or better yet something that you can remember owning at one stage or another, rarity doesnt matter to me much tho. There are some exceptions , if I go on vacation for instance I always take some of my consoles with and spend the whole vacation on it, locked in a room just playing what I enjoy, or if a current gen gets released that I have been waiting for for a long time I'll probably finish it in one sitting, but it has to be unique enough and these are getting fewer.
