Maybe you should explore the British hip hop scene? There is some brilliant stuff over here. You have Kate Tempest, The Herbalizer, Sleaford Mods, and while it's not quite as traditional a hip hop as you might be used to, a lot of the stuff on the ninja tunes label has some good stuff. I don't know how well any of it would cross over to the States, but it's definitely worth checking out if you want a fresh perspective.
To be fair I haven't listened to any of her other songs. My sister was watching MTV and happened to be on and rather liked it.
I throw this banger on and it's 2002 again. OH and while I'm here, I wish to state that Macklemoore is cancer.
https://soundcloud.com/kanyewest/30-hours New Kanye track from T.L.O.P. Just an update, the album is being mastered today. It will have 6 tracks added to it and it will be released today. Pretty excited.
I am very excited for TLOP more than I have any business being. Just have to accept that Kanye being a dick is just part of his act. 30 hours is just FIRE
T.L.O.P. is quite good, albiet a bit disjointed and scatter-brain at times. It feels like with a bit more polish it could be even better. Who seems to care, though. With all the negative Kanye coverage, people seemed destined to hate him and his music.
Sucks the only way to hear it is either through Tidial or to pirate it. It deserves to get a high Quality vinyl release his other albums got. Anyways, I've taken to Soundcloud to find some new stuff. Here are some good MCs I stumbled on in my journey. https://soundcloud.com/fiendbassy https://soundcloud.com/rickyconaway https://soundcloud.com/brvceleo https://soundcloud.com/201ransom
Time for a bump as I have dug deep and have really gotten into the A$AP Mob, Mainly Ferg. J.Cole a bit, the Uniqueness of Future, Joey BadA$$, and REALLY grew to love Kendrick's To Pimp a Butterfly on a level I never considered before. Add Schoolboy Q to this list. I gave the Life of Pablo a Good listen about two weeks ago and I love and hope it gets some kind of non digital release. Dig deep enough and Hip hop is in a good place and getting better.
