..................the fuck? Trackpads? on both sides? a touchscreen? and only 4 face buttons? Who designed this? seriously, who thought it was good at all? What happened to the bio-sensors? why pack so much crap on it but leave the one thing that was really cool? The only saving grace IMHO are the haptics, because rumble has been the same since 1997
LMFAO!!! Oh my....not sure what to make of that one. I thought it was a picture of a broken pad when I scrolled down. Then I read the title again in disbelief... I'll try to reserve judgement till I use one, but I really do appreciate an analogue stick under my thumb the same way I prefer a keyboard to a touch screen.
Using a trackpad might be ok for mouselook, but why not even a goddamn Dpad? I like being able to fell the buttons you know? Guess there wont be any fighting/classic games for the steambox....
It looks like something best reserved for a Batman movie. Then again, people said the same thing about XBOX's Duke and some people actually liked that controller.
i'll reserve judgement till i've messed with one, it looks interesting and i see some good points that could work well with the SteamOS, also designed to be hackable so thats a bonus

It will probably work great, but it will also probably be $100. I'll stick to a used $5 360 usb controller for platformers and use a keyboard and mouse for the rest.
I'm disappointed, but I won't knock it until I try it I guess. I'm just a little bummed because they've been hinting that their new input was going to be awesome for a while now and they even made it the last of 3 announcements (implying that it's the best part), only to show a controller with trackpads instead of control sticks. From what I've seen so far, (and I could be wrong because it's not like I've tried it or there's a lot of info), it just seems like a more precise controller, rather than anything innovative or special.
I like the tactile feel of an analog stick, plus I wouldn't even bother with the face buttons at all. Or rather I will, but mask them. If you have a master system style dpad rocker, the x / y axis will provide the a,b, x, y buttons. And then you mount to trackpad on top of that, so touch softly to move or look around and then press it hard to activate the buttons FTW In fairness though the main advantage of the steam button arrangement is that you can access them without having to move your thumbs too far away from the touchpad for too long which should really close the gap on the controller/keyboard divide somewhat.
You do know that PC gaming is picking back up and that the next generation of consoles are closer to being PC than an actual console platform right?
Well I mean it's not like this hurts PC games. If I don't like the controller I can just ignore it and use a keyboard/mouse. PC games don't cease to exist...
