Way back at the Acclaim auction, some people had come all the way from Redmond Washington to get the xbox 360 and xbox devs from Acclaim. They spent the day sorting through the mess that was acclaim and loaded up a truck. Some unlucky sod had to fly from Washington state, rent a truck, load them and drive back. This is a round trip of 4810 miles. This is driving 2405 miles back. Total travel time is 43 hours NONSTOP
That sucks. He would have at least been allowed to stop every 2 hours to stretch and of course go to bed after a total of 10hours of driving. I wonder how long it would take me to drive from FL to WA nonstop....
I was there the day of the sale. It was all "out of the auction" and the surly MS people were packing it all away.
My uncle is a truck driver, and he definitely gets tested... Caffeine pills and coffee may be a different story, but I don't know how they'd get away with it otherwise. If I were the employee, I sure as hell wouldn't complain if I got to keep the hardware, but I doubt this was the case.... I'd be pissed if I had to drive that far just to pick up some dev hardware. This would also be pretty dangerous if he drove that with little sleep. Either way, it would've sucked to be the guy to drive that.
I sure hope they at least employed a team to do it so at least one guy could sleep while the other drives
No idea about western truck drivers, but from what I know from other, middle-eastern truck driving "traditions" opium is high on the list of their preference for long-hour drives for some drivers. Some of them of course smuggle it into Europe etc too.
Opium?! Jesus Christ. I really hope they don't smoke that shit while they're driving. Chillin at the hotel is fine with me though
Ephedrine as you can buy it is not a good stimulant. I think you mean crystal meth, it's concentrated bastardized form. We can thank the fuhrer for allowing such an item to be created, and even given to his own people...
If I am not mistaken, then it was the Japanese who made it , and I seem to recall hearing that in a documentary on National Geographic Channel that was about methamphetamine .
I love driving. I just hate everyone else on the road. Too many people are just so stupid when they get behind the wheel.
